Opportunity for a Fire Safety Monitor working with BYLOR on the Hinkley Point C Project,


The purpose of this role will be to:


Support and Assist the Fire Safety Manager, Fire Safety Advisors and HSE colleagues to deliver robust and effective Fire Safety capability for the work scope of Bylor on the HPC project. With the purpose of as far as is practical BYLOR is Safe and Legal.
NOTE Monitors will be developed via coaching and mentoring to undertake this role as it is unlikely initially that they will have all the skills required.


Specific Duties - The incumbent as indicated will Assist and Support BYLOR SME’s / SQEP Staff to:


Maintain Fire Safety requirements on BYLOR Platforms and Work Areas. Areas that this encompass are:

 

  • Fire Alarm System - Fire Panels and Call Points.
  • Fire Signage;
  • Escape Routes including Emergency Lighting;
  • FAP location & suitability;
  • Wednesday 11:00 Fire Alarm Tests;
  • Fire Logbook review;
  • Fire Drills.
  • Assist in the creation, maintenance, distribution, and revision of platform Fire Safety Plans.
  • Ensure Licence Condition 8 compliance
  • Local Fire Safety (FS) documentation (Plans, Instructions and Logbook).
  • Assist with delivering fire drills.
  • Coaching / Mentoring of Individuals in Fire Safety related matters.
  • Providing advice and support for Fire Safety issues across the business.
  • Inspections and audits of Platforms, Work Areas, and Temporary Accommodation Units for compliance with applicable Fire Safety legislation and regulations.
  • Assisting in Accident and Incident investigations. 
  • Advising, assisting, and supporting BYLOR subcontractors with Fire Safety which includes auditing and assurance activities.
  • Assisting with producing toolbox talks, as required, to all staff and operatives on subjects relevant to the dedicated work area keeping records of all attendance registers.
  • Be able to complete a NEBOSH Certificate in Fire Safety within a specified timeframe.

  • An analytical approach and a high level of attention to detail.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to operate effectively under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Negotiating skills and the capacity to persuade others to achieve results and initiate action.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a wider team/s.
  • Basic IT Skills.
  • The ability to identify and consider the many different cultures that are embedded within the teams operating within a platform/work area.
