Salary: Starting salary from £41,000 per annum (depending on experience)

 

Working Hours: 39 hours on average per week. 

 

9 days across 2 weeks (Monday to Friday on week 1 & Monday to Thursday on week 2). 

 

We have an exciting opportunity for you to join us as an Environmental Advisor at Hinkley Point C.

 

As the Environmental Advisor to Wilson James on the Project you will be supporting the delivery of Net Zero in the construction of the UKs future power infrastructure and working closely with contractors working at Hinkley Point C. This position is responsible for the management of chemicals hazardous to human health (COSHH) used by Wilson James, managing the chemical management system for Wilson James; and adhering to the chemical approval process. Reporting to the Wilson James Environmental and Sustainability Manager, Construction Teams and the Client. Assisting in the effective management of the Environmental Management Plan.

 

You will be working collaboratively with colleagues throughout the HPC site and internally within Wilson James. This role's primary responsibility will be complying with the appropriate chemical guidance as detailed by the control of substances hazardous to health regulations (COSHH).

 

You will be developing strategies and systems, monitoring performance and the provide advice and support to ensure Wilson James Logistics teams to ensure that they are working safely in line with the RAMS, DABS, HPC processes, procedures, including current legislation and industry best practice. In addition, all Wilson James SOP'S, internal policies and protocols will need to be followed.

 What we need from you:

  • Strong working knowledge of COSHH regulations, specific to the construction industry
  • IOSH Qualification
  • Experience in compiling and reviewing COSHH Risk Assessments specific to task
  • Experience working in a multi-disciplined safety critical environment.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills, able to communicate at all levels.
  • IT literate – familiar with Microsoft packages.
  • An understanding of the principles of equality and diversity in relation to visitors' and employee's needs.
  • An interest in and commitment to the work of Wilson James for its clients

 

Experience and Qualifications

Essential Qualifications: 

  • CITB MAPS (must be obtained before commencement date).
  • Previous COSHH experience
  • Experience in using Chemical Management Systems
  • Diploma, but preferably a degree, in Environmental Management or equivalent

 

Desirable Experience and Qualifications: 

  • Strong working knowledge of COSHH regulations, specific to the construction industry
  • IOSH or NEBOSH Qualification
  • Experience in compiling and reviewing COSHH Risk Assessments specific to task
  • Experience working in a multi-disciplined safety critical environment.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills, able to communicate at all levels.
  • IT literate – familiar with Microsoft packages.
  • SMSTS/SSSTS (or working towards).
  • Knowledge of the Project and Site

 

Site Specific Information

  • You must be able to provide a 3-year work/ unemployment/ education history and the required vetting process in line with HPC protocols.
  • You must be able to obtain the HPC pass.
  • The site is located remotely and a bus journey of 45 minutes each way is required to gain access.
