Distribution Lead

Main Duties:


Lead the planning and delivery of short‑ to medium‑term distribution operations for all construction materials
Oversee inbound receipt, cross‑docking, consolidation and internal / vertical distribution activities
Manage all on‑site Transport Management Plans (TMP)
Resource and coordinate logistics access points across the HPC site
Support client teams with distribution, plant planning and access requirements
Ensure a safe, compliant and well‑controlled operation
Drive engagement with digital tools (TMS/DMS) to measure performance and support continuous improvement
Lead procurement‑related requirements for plant and fleet, ensuring cost efficiencies
Produce and maintain KPI reporting for distribution, fleet and plant logistics
Conduct plant, vehicle and compliance audits
Manage people performance, including 1-2-1s, training plans, and any required HR or IR actions
Collaborate effectively with construction partners and manage third‑party operatives
Initiate safety stand‑downs when necessary and ensure consistent use of the HPC Insight reporting system
Carry out additional duties aligned with the role as required


Requirements:


Essential:


CITB HSE Test (Manager & Professional Standard)
Full UK driving licence
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Good general level of education


Desirable:


SMSTS
CSCS Black Card
NVQ Level 6+ in Construction Site Management


Experience:


Experience managing construction logistics in a safety‑critical, multi‑disciplined environment
Strong working knowledge of vehicle, plant and lifting regulations
Experience with digital logistics tools (TMS/DMS) and operational reporting
Experience managing fleets, people and KPIs
Background in compound management
Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
Experience with lifting plans, schedules and load security
Ability to develop training plans and maintain records
Experience using time & attendance systems
Insight Reporting familiarity
