Construction Engineer - Mech/Piping Eng 
The MEH Alliance - Cavendish Nuclear 
Hinkley Point C 


Accountabilities:    
1.    Delegation of responsibilities to CE’s/Works Coordination Leads. Lead, manage and motivate the team through implementation of best practice.  
2.    Ultimately accountable to deliver Discipline Specific Construction Work Pack scope of works to support the MEH construction activities 
3.    Define boundary of scope of works 
4.    Liaising with necessary SME’s and client counterparts 
5.    Ensuring documents are compliant with latest works information and other MEH documentation 
6.    Ensure documents are kept up-to-date and reviewed periodically where required 
7.    Ownership and driving of deliverables from conception to A-Accepted status >90% first time accepted criteria 
8.    Prioritisation and ownership of documentation to enable construction works as per the level 4 plan. E.g. T-3 months accepted prior to works 
9.    Support continuous improvement programmes to improve process/procedures 
10.    Directly report to the Building Manager or nominated deputy. 
11.    Provide and demonstrate a positive HSE leadership, building a strong and compliant HS&E culture throughout the whole construction life cycle of the Project. 
12.    Ensure compliance with all nuclear safety and site licence requirements 
13.    Review and feedback on suitability of level of resource to effectively run the support function 

 

 

Key Deliverables:    
1.    Deliver Mechanical & Piping Construction Workpacks to support the MEH Alliance programme 
2.    Enable the use of the Procon system to support the construction works and progress reporting of the MEH Alliance
3.    Enable the requesting and compliance of the MEH Alliance for the Work Authorisation and Permit systems operated by NNB 
4.    Enable the co-ordination of safe access routing to workfaces to support the MEH Alliance construction works 
5.    Enable the topographical and other surveying required to support the MEH Alliance construction works 


Minimum Qualifications/ Experience 
(in line with MEH Onboarding matrix)
Qualifications 

1.    Degree qualification or equivalent vocational training and experience of installing Mechanical and Piping systems. 
2.    Relevant Professional Accreditation (PM, Construction, Engineering) 
3.    Can achieve Security Clearance (BPSS or Higher) 
4.    CCNSG Safety Passport 
5.    IOSH Managing Safely or NEBOSH 

 

Experience 
1.    Proven track record of working in a highly regulated sector, preferably in nuclear 
2.    Knowledge and experience in Safe Systems of Work
3.    Experience working on major construction projects 
4.    Experienced in delivering and operating at Engineer or Senior Engineer level, including experience working within Joint Ventures 


Additional Qualifications/ Experience:    
1.    Positive, can-do mentality 
2.    Adaptive problem-solving mind set
3.    Proven track record of success.
4.    Strong leader with collaborative nature
