The Communications Manager is a valuable member of the MEH Communications Team within the Project Office function. Reporting to the Senior Communications Manager, this position plays a pivotal role in shaping and delivering communications across the MEH organisation. It involves leading the development and execution of comprehensive communications plans, enhancing internal and external engagement, and ensuring consistent impactful messaging that supports MEH goals and values.


Accountabilities:

- Play a leading role in developing and delivering communications and stakeholder management campaigns, and manage their effective implementation (i.e MEH delivery milestones, internal campaigns etc.)
- Roll out of innovative communications platforms such as mobile apps to connect with the workforc
- Act as a trusted advisor to colleagues of all levels, in both management and superintendents, to ensure effective communication is at the heart of their work
- Work with MEH teams and the Client communications team to identify communications needs and opportunities, and advise on messaging, channels, output, and evaluation of outcomes
- Use expertise, experience, and industry best practice to help the business understand its stakeholders, identify the right channels, styles, and activities for specific audiences
- Maintain excellent contacts and relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
- Assemble, source and produce written and visual content for internal/external stakeholders and the wider Project Office
- Create and deliver creative, clear communications that reach a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
- Assemble, source and produce written visual content for internal communications channels, including the MEH Weekly Highlights, MEH Mobile App, Town Hall sessions, MEH Project Execution Business Plan, and other HPC led communications channels
- Design and execute novel and effective communications and engagement campaigns and experiences to foster team solidarity and cement company culture
- Produce and ensure all content is on brand, accurate, and signed off by appropriate stakeholders
- Lead and execute the delivery of team events and business engagement programmes
- Line management responsibilities
- Deputise for the Senior Communications Manager in their absence, and work closely with the Senior Communications Manager to ensure alignment of communications plans and messaging to strategic plan


Key Deliverables:

- Lead the creation and delivery of engaging internal content using tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, and SharePoint. This includes producing weekly newsletter, content update on the mobile app, and leadership messages that foster transparency and staff engagement
- Design and implement targeted campaigns to promote MEH's delivery at HPC and its broader impact. This includes developing visual and written content, coordinating with external suppliers (e.g designers, printers, film producers), and managing timelines and approvals to ensure high-quality, on-brand outputs
- Lead the development and execution of the annual communications plan. This includes designing integrated campaigns and creating tactical tools - such as content calendars, messaging frameworks, and visual assets to support effective delivery
- Act as a key advisor during workforce related crises, and support HR and leadership in drafting timely and sensitive messaging
- Use tools such as MailChimp, LinkedIn, and Mobile App tools to track the effectiveness of communication activities. Produce regular reports with actionable insights to inform future strategy and demonstrate impact


Qualifications:

- Degree level or equivalent qualification in marketing/communications or a relevant subject is preferred
- A specialist qualification (CIPR, CIM, IoIC diploma) or equivalent relevant experience


Experience:

- Previous experience of working within a corporate or project-based communications environment is desirable but not essential.
- Previous line management responsibilities
- Substantial experience in planning, managing, delivering and evaluating communications and stakeholder engagement strategies and plans 
- Clear commitment to continuous professional development to main and update communications skills (e.g through CIPR, CIM, IoIC or similar membership)
- Significant experience working within a communications and engagement team 
- Skilled at managing external supplier contracts, including planning, liaising briefs and progress and managing estimates and costs
- Ability to provide advice and support to senior managers
- Proven ability to participate effectively within mutil-discplinary teams, and significant experience of working in environments with competing priorities - managing independent workload with little supervision and contributing to team objectives and demands concurrently
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with ability to influence and negotiate
- Ability to identify key messages and tailor them to different audiences
- Strong project management skills
- Proficient in IT including CMS system, Wordpress, Adobe Creative Suite / Canva
