In this 12‑month maternity cover role, you’ll shape clear, compelling messages that help a complex programme succeed. At EDF, Success is Personal – and this role gives you space to grow in your own way.

The Opportunity

As an External Communications Manager, you’ll play a key role in supporting Hinkley Point C by developing communication that brings clarity, confidence and connection. You’ll help tell the story of a project that matters to Britain’s future, supporting our transition towards An Electric Britain while shaping messages that inspire trust across stakeholder groups.

Alongside a competitive salary and potential for an annual bonus, this role offers a mixture of on site working, home working, and time at our #SDC or #AztecWest offices. You’ll work closely with senior leaders, communication specialists and partners to deliver high‑quality work in a fast‑moving environment.

You’ll build your expertise on a project unlike any other in the UK. From shaping written content to supporting events, media activity and storytelling, you’ll have opportunities to develop your skills, collaborate with experienced colleagues and influence communication that reaches thousands. You’ll help translate complex information into simple, human messaging that supports the journey towards An Electric Britain.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Leading external communication activity for the Project Director’s Office

  • Developing clear written content for varied audiences

  • Supporting events, presentations and leadership communication

  • Creating simple content and commissioning photography, graphics and video

  • Building strong relationships across a complex organisation

Pay, Benefits and Culture

Alongside a starting salary of £54,000 and potential for an annual bonus, and a market‑leading pension scheme, your package will include customisable benefits such as electric vehicle leasing, discounted gym membership, life assurance, tech vouchers, experience days and more.

At EDF, we believe there are multiple definitions of what it means to succeed. That’s why we offer you the freedom to develop a career that’s unique to you. Here, Success is Personal – it’s your journey, powered by us.

Everyone is welcome at EDF; we’re committed to building a workforce that reflects gender balance, social mobility, and inclusion of minority ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQ+ communities, and those with disabilities. As a Disability Confident employer, we will support applicants requiring adjustments.

Why Join Us?

For more than 60 years, nuclear power stations in the UK have been quietly keeping Britain fuelled with massive amounts of home-grown energy.

Our teams up and down the country are proudly continuing to serve the nation – but they also have an eye on the future.

EDF is leading the UK's nuclear renaissance with the construction of a new nuclear power station at Hinkley Point C and plans for a new power station at Sizewell C in Suffolk.

Nuclear power is the most reliable, low-carbon energy source currently available to the UK. EDF is playing a key role in the development of nuclear sites, while Hinkley Point C will provide low-carbon electricity to meet 7% of the UK demand. The project is already making a positive impact on the local and national economy as well as boosting skills and education.

We’re not just building new nuclear power stations. We’re developing careers, upskilling generations and creating thousands of employment and apprenticeship opportunities across a variety of skills areas.

It takes a special kind of person to work in the nuclear energy industry and although we have thousands of them there’s always a need for more.

Our industry has a mind-boggling range of opportunities and more jobs, and in more places, than you might think. But it’s also an industry which is changing.

We’re a responsible business and proud to be Britain’s biggest generator of zero carbon electricity. With size, age and experience, we believe we can do even more.
