Commercial Manager

Job description

Ready to lead engineering excellence at one of Europe’s largest infrastructure projects? Want to shape the future of nuclear energy and help Britain achieve net zero? At EDF, Success is Personal – and with us, your career journey is yours to shape.

The Opportunity

As Commercial Manager for Site Construction Temporary Infrastructure & Utilities at Hinkley Point C, you’ll take a leading role in managing the commercial delivery of the temporary works and utilities that keep construction running. You’ll work closely with Service Managers, Delivery Teams and Tier‑1 Contractors to ensure essential services are procured and operated efficiently, safely and in line with best practice.

This is a hybrid role based at #HinkleyPointC, with flexibility to work from home, though regular on‑site presence is expected to stay close to delivery.

This is your chance to support one of the UK’s most complex infrastructure projects, maintaining continuity of power, water, drainage, communications, welfare facilities and other enabling services across a fast‑moving construction environment.

You’ll strengthen commercial governance, improve processes and support effective tendering and contract management across the temporary infrastructure and utilities portfolio. You’ll also help maintain project‑wide commercial policies and provide guidance to teams delivering these critical services.

This role suits both experienced Commercial Managers seeking a new challenge and Assistant Commercial Managers ready to step up and take on greater responsibility.

Who You Are

We’re looking for a commercially astute professional with experience in construction enabling works, temporary infrastructure, or utilities. You will bring:

Experience managing complex stakeholder relationships in a large, fast-paced construction environment.
A strong understanding of the commercial and operational challenges associated with temporary infrastructure and utilities on major construction sites.
Knowledge of NEC3 TSC service contracts, with experience using supply chain systems such as CEMAR and SAP.
Excellent communication and influencing skills, able to build trust and drive accountability across multiple delivery partners.
Strong analytical and numerical capability, with confidence in managing high-value, high-risk commercial decisions
An awareness of nuclear site licence conditions, nuclear baseline principles, and the UK regulatory framework would be desirable.

What You’ll Be Doing

Supporting the commercial management of temporary infrastructure and utilities contracts at Hinkley Point C, ensuring services deliver value for money, resilience, and continuity of supply.
Working closely with the Senior Commercial Manager, you’ll manage supplier relationships and performance across utilities, temporary buildings, welfare facilities, and enabling services critical to site operations.
Managing NEC3 TSC service contracts, including compliance, change control, forecasting, and issue resolution, ensuring risks are managed and opportunities realised.
Acting as a trusted commercial advisor to delivery teams, providing insight that enables informed decision-making and supports long-term project success.
Building strong collaborative relationships across construction, engineering, and supply chain teams to ensure clear expectations and effective delivery of site-wide services.

Pay, Benefits and Culture

Alongside a competitive salary, potential for an annual bonus, and a market-leading pension scheme, your package will include customisable benefits such as electric vehicle leasing, discounted gym membership, life assurance, tech vouchers, experience days, and more.

At EDF, we believe there are multiple definitions of what it means to succeed. That’s why we offer you the freedom to develop a career that’s unique to you. Here, Success is Personal – it’s your journey, powered by us.

Everyone is welcome at EDF; we’re committed to building a workforce that reflects gender balance, social mobility, and inclusion of minority ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQ+ communities, and those with disabilities. As a Disability Confident employer, we will support applicants requiring adjustments.

Why Join Us?

For more than 60 years, nuclear power stations in the UK have been quietly keeping Britain fuelled with massive amounts of home-grown energy.

Our teams up and down the country are proudly continuing to serve the nation – but they also have an eye on the future.

EDF is leading the UK's nuclear renaissance with the construction of a new nuclear power station at Hinkley Point C and plans for a new power station at Sizewell C in Suffolk.

Nuclear power is the most reliable, low-carbon energy source currently available to the UK. EDF is playing a key role in the development of nuclear sites, while Hinkley Point C will provide low-carbon electricity to meet 7% of the UK demand. The project is already making a positive impact on the local and national economy as well as boosting skills and education.

We’re not just building new nuclear power stations. We’re developing careers, upskilling generations and creating thousands of employment and apprenticeship opportunities across a variety of skills areas.

It takes a special kind of person to work in the nuclear energy industry and although we have thousands of them there’s always a need for more.

Our industry has a mind-boggling range of opportunities and more jobs, and in more places, than you might think. But it’s also an industry which is changing.

We’re a responsible business and proud to be Britain’s biggest generator of zero carbon electricity. With size, age and experience, we believe we can do even more.
