Job Description  


Civil engineering surveyor roles available with Bylor on HPC. Our dynamic and innovative survey team is looking to extend our current survey function by hiring experienced engineering surveyors to help deliver one of Europe’s biggest and most complex civil engineering & nuclear projects. 


Location 

 
Unless stated otherwise all positions are based at Hinkley Point C in Somerset.
Somerset boasts beautiful English countryside, an attractive coastline, interesting towns and villages along with easy access to the M5 and within proximity to the cities of Bristol and Exeter.  


Function


Civil engineering surveying is a branch of civil engineering that deals with the measurement, analysis, and design of land and structures. Surveying is a critical part of civil engineering, as it helps provides technical support and information that is used throughout all phases of the project.  


Role & Responsibilities:


•    Report to Senior Civil Surveyor 
•    Implementation of dimensional control 
•    Undertake engineering & topographic surveys
•    Specialist Setting out
•    Quality assurance 
•    As-built surveys
•    Laser scanning
•    Volume and quantity calculations
•    Survey data management and analytics
•    Supply Survey drawings and data 
•    Produce survey quality records 
•    Monitoring
•    Provide technical support
•    Working both on site and in an office as required
•    Utilise a variety of ‘state of the art’ specialist survey equipment and technology including, Leica TS16 / MS60 Robotics, Leica RTC360, Leica GNSS or similar
•    Software use include, Civil3D, AutoCAD, Leica Infinity, Leica Cyclone3RD, MicroSurvey Star*Net, Microsoft Office, Excel and more


Essential skills & Technical knowledge:


•    2 years + in a similar role
•    Specialist engineering surveying skills
•    Experience working on large Infrastructure projects
•    Knowledge of and experience in reinforced concrete desired
•    Must have experience in the use of survey hardware and software
•    Numeracy and the ability to make mathematical calculations
•    The ability to understand and interpret data
•    Lateral and logical thinking
•    Cutting-edge IT skills and confidence with new technology
•    Problem solving and analysis
•    Attention to detail
•    Client interface and customer service skills
•    Verbal and written communication skills
•    Good organisation and time management
•    The ability to work independently and as part of a team


Education & Qualifications:


•    Degree in Geomatics /Engineering Surveying (Desirable but not essential)
•    ICES/RICS membership (Desirable but not essential)
•    Technical Qualifications required (NVQ/HNC etc.)
