A new opportunity has arisen within the Joint Design Office (JDO) for a motivated Civil Engineer to support in the Review and Acceptance (R&A) activities of a classified concrete building.


This role requires working in a dynamic and multidisciplinary design team which undertake the important intelligent customer role on behalf of the HPC project. EDF’s ambition is to construct and operate up to 2 new EPRs in Hinkley Point to support the future of Nuclear Power Generation in the UK.

What you’ll be doing…

 

  • Attending readiness reviews of design packages released for construction, as and when required by design owners.
  • Identifying issues that could affect nuclear safety, ensuring that processes comply with project quality procedures.
  • Coordinating a building to have all the design and construction changes finalised in due time for the construction need.
  • Ensuring processes comply with project quality procedures.
  • Working closely with the design teams, contractor, and construction teams to maintain technical quality of responses, construction programme and construction safety.
  • Working with the delivery and construction team to schedule and prioritise the engineering work to meet site needs.
  • Actively reporting to the Area Engineering Manager on risks and interfaces (technical and functional) and facilitate the resolution of all issues raised.
  • Pushing improvement for the area from engineering perspective with support of stakeholders.
     

Who you are…


Your background may include some of the following:

 

  • Design process and design activities (preferably related to Nuclear Industry).
  • Working knowledge of design code of nuclear Industry (ETC-C, RCC-M).
  • Design with hazard & accidental safety cases.
  • Working within UK CDM regulations and in a highly regulated industry.
  • Advanced degree in civil or structural engineering subject, or Mechanical &electrical engineering.
  • Health & Safety legislation including CDM and Nuclear Site License requirements.
  • PWR technology design, safety case or operation.
  • Working towards / Chartered Engineer with either ICE or IStructE.
