Opportunity for a Black Hat AP Moving Loads working with Amentum on the Hinkley Point C Project,
Job Purpose:
The Black Hat AP is responsible for the planning, supervision, and safe execution of all lifting operations on site. This role ensures that all lifting activities are carried out in accordance with company policies, and best practice industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
• Plan and oversee lifting operations in accordance with health and safety regulations and project requirements.
• Conduct risk assessments and develop method statements for lifting activities.
• Liaise with crane operators, slingers/signallers, site management, and subcontractors to coordinate lifting operations.
• Select appropriate lifting equipment, ensuring it is properly maintained and certified.
• Produce lifting plans, including detailed drawings and lifting sequence.
• Ensure that all personnel involved in lifting operations are competent, trained, and briefed.
• Monitor operations on-site to ensure lifting plans are followed and intervene if safety is compromised.
• Maintain documentation including lift plans, equipment records, and personnel competency.
• Conduct toolbox talks and safety briefings specific to lifting operations.
• Respond to incidents or near misses during lifting operations and contribute to investigations.
Qualifications/Experience:
• Recognized qualification as an Appointed Person (e.g., CPCS A61 or equivalent).
• Proven experience planning and managing lifting operations.
• Strong knowledge of LOLER, PUWER, and other relevant safety legislation.
• Ability to read technical drawings and understand load charts.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work under pressure in high-risk environments.
• Previous experience in a similar role
