Key Objective

Altrad are seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial delivery of major construction projects at HPC, ensuring costs are effectively managed within budget, programme, and quality requirements. The role involves assisting with cost planning, procurement, subcontract management, valuations, and monthly financial reporting. You will work closely with the senior QS and commercial team to maintain accurate cost control information and support change management processes. This is an excellent opportunity to gain broad project exposure and develop strong commercial and contractual knowledge. The role is ideal for someone looking to progress towards professional qualification as a Quantity Surveyor.


Main Activities

  • Support the CM/SCM Area lead in providing commercial support on work site at HPC and to Multi-Disciplinary Teams, including Project Manager, Planner and Construction Building Leads; from kick-off meeting to final account.
  • Carry out site visits, verification of timesheet records and, identification of change events.
  • Draft CEMAR communications relating to provision of Cost Advice, EWN drafting and supporting the proactive management of risk reduction/mitigations.  
  • CE Notification for review and approval by others in keeping with project CEMAR Etiquette; and review CEMAR communications and documents received from the Client.
  • Support the Application for Payment (AfP) process of costs in submission to the client on a Monthly basis, and assist in gathering necessary supporting information.
  • Assisting with cost estimates, budgets and forecasts
  • Supporting in Subcontract and supplier procurement, from package enquiries, tenders analysis and raising procurement and subcontract orders.

 

Qualifications

  • Completed Apprenticeship or Working towards QS Qualifications (HNC/HND)
  • Be open to complete level 6 qualification in agreed timescale with support of project


Experience

  • Experience within the Nuclear Industry desirable but not essential
  • Can achieve security clearance (BPSS or higher) is essential
  • Displays the right behaviors, demonstrates a "best for project" ethos; is able to think laterally and flexibly to deliver solutions, with a 'process driven' focus to delivery.
  • Demonstrates strong communication skills, liaising effectively with peers, other functions, delivery partner and client teams.
  • Able to demonstrate accountability for their own actions and take responsibility for workload.
