About the role

We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Appointed Person to play a pivotal role in the engineering planning, and safe delivery of complex lifting and transportation operations. Reporting to the engineering manager and team, you will be responsible for developing high-quality technical solutions, designs, and engineering documentation for all on-site lifting activities, as well as associated receiving transportation, loadouts, marine transports, and load-ins. This is an exciting opportunity for an engineering professional who thrives in a fast-paced project environment.


What You’ll do


·         Develop technical engineering designs and smart solutions for heavy lifting and specialist transportation projects
·         Prepare and select appropriate engineering statements, using both existing and newly created methodologies
·         Produce high quality engineering documentation including drawings, calculations, visualisations, manuals, RAMS, and method statements
·         Maintain strict document quality and control throughout each project lifecycle
·         Act as a contact point for the client, operations team, and internal project stakeholders


Skills & Experience


·         Proven experience in an Appointed Person, Lift Planner, or technical engineering role within heavy lifting or specialist transportation.
·         Strong understanding of lifting operations, engineering design principles, and relevant legislation/standards (e.g., LOLER, BS 7127)
·         Ability to produce and interpret technical drawings, calculations, risk assessments, method statements, and engineering documentation
·         Confident acting as a technical focal point, with excellent communication skills to liaise with clients, site teams and project managers
·         Proficient in relevant engineering or design software (e.g., AutoCAD, 3D modelling packages) – desirable
