We are a disability confident employer and we’ll do all we can to help with your application. Please let us know if you need to request reasonable adjustments.

What you’ll be doing

You will adopt a respectful and pragmatic approach, delivering consistent, high-quality vetting support aligned with the standards set by the Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR), the Cabinet Office, and EDF Energy (Nuclear Operations). A key part of your role will involve managing vetting records for both EDF staff and contractors, ensuring efficient and effective delivery of the Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) service. You will be responsible for verifying documentation, approving BPSS applications, tracking clearances, and offering support to Site Heads of Security and line managers, while also assisting individuals with entering security data into company HR systems.

In addition, you will oversee various aspects of National Security Vetting (NSV), including initiating, maintaining, and reviewing clearances, handling clearance transfers, managing leaver processes, and addressing lapsed clearances. Your role requires a strong focus on detail and compliance to maintain accurate and up-to-date vetting records. You will be expected to provide timely and informed guidance on vetting procedures and regularly engage with stakeholders across the organisation via email, Teams, and phone.

Collaboration is essential in this role, as you will work closely with EDF site vetting and security teams, corporate partners, and suppliers to support clearance applications backed by business needs. Occasional travel to nuclear sites will help you build strong relationships and ensure consistent implementation of vetting processes. You will also contribute to the creation and upkeep of documentation that supports the vetting and security culture across the Nuclear Estate, promoting clear, consistent communication with stakeholders and suppliers.

Who you are

You will bring a collaborative mindset and a proactive approach to working with multiple stakeholders, helping to drive forward security clearance and onboarding projects across the organisation. A solid understanding of vetting processes and hands-on experience in onboarding activities within a fast-paced, regulated environment are essential for success in this role.

Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills will enable you to work effectively across departments, influence key decisions, and provide clear, practical guidance. Excellent computer literacy and attention to detail are also vital, ensuring the secure and accurate handling of sensitive information across EDF systems.

We are looking for someone who thrives in a dynamic, team-oriented environment, with a proven ability to deliver solutions and maintain strong working relationships. Experience in onboarding or vetting, particularly within the nuclear or a similarly regulated industry, will be highly beneficial. Familiarity with HR or vetting systems is advantageous and will support your ability to navigate the complexities of security and compliance requirements.

If this sounds like you then we’d love to hear from you!

In person or online Teams interview: Anticipated week commencing 14th July 2025

Why Join Us?

For more than 60 years, nuclear power stations in the UK have been quietly keeping Britain fuelled with massive amounts of home-grown energy.

Our teams up and down the country are proudly continuing to serve the nation – but they also have an eye on the future.

EDF is leading the UK's nuclear renaissance with the construction of a new nuclear power station at Hinkley Point C and plans for a new power station at Sizewell C in Suffolk.

Nuclear power is the most reliable, low-carbon energy source currently available to the UK. EDF is playing a key role in the development of nuclear sites, while Hinkley Point C will provide low-carbon electricity to meet 7% of the UK demand. The project is already making a positive impact on the local and national economy as well as boosting skills and education.

We’re not just building new nuclear power stations. We’re developing careers, upskilling generations and creating thousands of employment and apprenticeship opportunities across a variety of skills areas.

It takes a special kind of person to work in the nuclear energy industry and although we have thousands of them there’s always a need for more.

Our industry has a mind-boggling range of opportunities and more jobs, and in more places, than you might think. But it’s also an industry which is changing.

We’re a responsible business and proud to be Britain’s biggest generator of zero carbon electricity. With size, age and experience, we believe we can do even more.
