Environmental Arrangements Engineer

You'll be responsible for:


Deputising for the Environmental Arrangements Lead.
Supporting the management and maintenance of SZC ISO14001 accreditation, including the preparation for and participation in surveillance audits.
Supporting the development of appropriate arrangements and management plans to ensure compliance on the SZC construction site and other areas of the project.
Helping to ensure that work packages defined for early works, enabling works, associated developments and main construction include relevant environmental and sustainability requirements within design and contracts.
Supporting Incident Reporting, Design Change and Procurement as appropriate, to help ensure environmental, and sustainability requirements are considered. 
In the lead up to the ISO14001 audit, carrying out environmental inspections of site activities and supporting the implementation of environmental performance measurement, review, and reporting requirements.
Being a point sites contact for the SZC Environmental Management System and helping to ensure, through its implementation, that the effects of the activities of the construction site conform to SZC's environmental policy and associated objectives and targets. 
Supporting the wider environmental consenting and assurance function with arrangements for technical environmental topic areas.


You'll need to have:


An understanding of the requirements and arrangements needed to deliver compliance with environmental permits, licences, and consents.
Strong problem solving and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise workload effectively.
Must be able to work independently and demonstrate excellent communication/interpersonal and influencing skills.
A well-developed skillset with regards to the communication with a variety of stakeholders.
Accuracy and attention to detail, with the ability to see projects through from start to finish.
Knowledge of sustainability, and other relevant processes and procedures which will require environmental input (e.g. investigations, incident management, procurement)
Strong assurance and challenge skills with excellent communication/interpersonal skills notably with various levels of the organisation and externally.
Degree qualified or equivalent in an environmental, science or related discipline.
Member of a related professional body.


Experience


Experience of operating within an environmental management system (EMS) conforming to recognised standards (BS EN ISO14001:2015), including supporting the development of procedures to meet the requirements of the EMS.
Experience managing environmental issues on a large infrastructure/engineering project.
Experience developing relationships or working with regulators.
