Job Responsibilities
Help Build One of the UK's Most Ambitious Infrastructure Projects
The Geotechnical Sub Alliance (GSA) is at the forefront of the Sizewell C nuclear power station development-one of the UK's largest and most exciting infrastructure programmes.
We're responsible for preparing the foundations of the entire site: designing and constructing cut off walls, retaining structures, soil improvements and more. Using advanced geotechnical engineering and world class construction technologies, this is a rare opportunity to contribute to a national project that will shape the UK's clean energy future.
About the role:
We're looking for an IT Data Engineer who's passionate about crafting high-quality, scalable data solutions that support digital transformation across the alliance.
You'll play a key role in building data pipelines, managing data platforms, and ensuring our teams have reliable, accurate, and accessible data to make informed decisions. Working closely with our BI Analysts, project partners, and functional teams, you'll help shape the future of digital capability at Sizewell C.
If you thrive in fast-paced environments, enjoy solving complex data problems, and want to be part of a collaborative, high-performing team-this is the role for you.
Key Responsibilities
• Design and maintain robust, scalable data pipelines across structured and unstructured sources
• Build and optimise data lakes, warehouses, and enterprise models
• Develop ETL/ELT solutions and reusable data engineering components
• Integrate systems and datasets across multiple project partners
• Enhance and monitor cloud-based data environments (primarily Azure)
• Implement DevOps, CI/CD, and automation best practices
• Drive data quality, governance, and security-ensuring compliance with UK GDPR
• Partner with BI teams to deliver reliable datasets and Power BI semantic models
• Support digital transformation and continuous improvement initiatives
Experience
Essential
• Proven experience as a Data Engineer
• Strong SQL and data modelling skills
• Hands-on experience with Azure and cloud data tools
• Background in building ETL/ELT pipelines
• Understanding of data architecture, warehousing & integration principles
• Familiarity with DevOps concepts (CI/CD, automation, version control)
• Experience with Power Platform & enterprise reporting environments
It would be a bonus if you have:
• Python, PySpark, or R programming experience
• Exposure to Agile delivery methods
• Knowledge of data governance frameworks
• Experience in infrastructure, regulated sectors, or large project environments
• Experience with streaming technologies (Kafka, Event Hub, IoT Hub)
For this role you must have evidence of right to work in the UK. As a project, we do not discriminate on the grounds of age, gender, race, colour, religion, disability or sexual orientation, and we welcome applications from all sections of the community.
