We are seeking an experienced and driven Senior Project Engineer to lead the development and delivery of engineering solutions across complex heavy lift and transportation projects. Reporting directly to the Technical Director, this role is responsible for producing and overseeing technical solutions, designs and engineering associated with onsite lifting operations, transportation, load-out, marine transport and load-in activities. This role will also be responsible for leadership, management and mentorship for Project Engineers and Graduate Engineers, supporting their technical development and ensuring high standards of delivery.


Location - Portishead, Bristol
Work Rotation – Monday-Friday


What You’ll do


•    Lead the development of innovative, technically robust engineering solutions across heavy lift, transportation, installation and marine operations.
•    Take ownership of complex engineering deliverables including drawings, calculations, visualisations, methodologies and risk assessments ensuring technical excellence throughout.
•    Drive operational engineering delivery both in office and on-site, ensuring safe, efficient execution that meets client’s expectations and project objectives.
•    Oversee and review the work of project and graduate engineers, providing guidance, quality assurance, mentorship and development across all areas.
•    Act as a primary technical interface for clients and site teams, leading meetings, site visits and the development of concept solutions to unlock new opportunities.
•    Develop and approve engineering statements, selecting or creating methodologies that address complex lifting and transport challenges.
•    Uphold and enforce technical standards and governance, ensuring consistency, compliance and high-quality document control across the full project lifecycle.


Skills & Experience 


•    Degree-qualified in an Engineering discipline (Masters preferred), with strong technical grounding across multiple engineering areas.
•    Proven experience delivering complex, large-scale construction or heavy lift projects across transportation, lifting, installing or marine scopes. 
•    Demonstrated ability to develop and implement innovative engineering solutions withing heavy lift, transport or related sectors.
•    Extensive hands-on experience with lifting operations including mobile, tower, and crawler cranes with a strong understanding of practical site constraint.
•    Confident client facing professional, experienced in leading technical discussions, site engagements and developing concept solutions.
•    Strong knowledge of relevant technical codes, standards and governance.
•    Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft tools (MathCAD desirable), with the ability to produce and review high-quality technical documentation. 
•    Passion for mentoring and developing Junior/Graduate engineers, with experience providing guidance, feedback and technical oversight to support their growth.
