Offshore Agent
Balfour Beatty
Hinkley Point C

The Marine Works Team is now delivering the final phase of the programme: flooding the intake and outfall tunnels to bring the cooling water system into service and support power station commissioning. This major offshore campaign involves planning and executing the controlled flooding of the tunnels, working at the interface of marine operations, commissioning, engineering and environmental management.

Key scope includes:

· Flooding of the intake and outfall tunnels from offshore
· Removal of temporary bulkheads from offshore shafts
· Installation of permanent locking caps
Delivering these works requires significant engineering, planning and stakeholder coordination. Activities range from offshore and onshore enabling works, testing and commissioning specialist temporary works equipment through to executing the main offshore campaign in the challenging environment of the Bristol Channel, home to the world's second-highest tidal range. Success depends on effective collaboration across multiple teams to manage marine constraints, integrate commissioning requirements and ensure assets are ready for operation.

What you'll be doing

In this role, you will be responsible for planning, managing and supervising offshore construction activities, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards.

Key Duties:

· Lead and manage a section of offshore works, ensuring safe and efficient delivery.
· Manage Sub Agents, Section Engineers, Site Engineers, and subcontractors involved in offshore operations.
· Review and improve method statements, risk assessments and safe systems of work.
· Ensure the effective implementation of permits, temporary works requirements and construction controls.
· Monitor progress against programme and identify opportunities to improve productivity and performance.
· Produce and manage detailed construction programmes and resource plans.
· Oversee quality management processes including inspections, audits, handover documentation and non-conformance management.
· Liaise with designers, project teams and subcontractors to resolve technical issues.
· Monitor section budgets, costs and commercial performance.
· Support procurement activities and management of subcontract packages.
· Maintain project records and prepare reports for the wider project team and client.

Requirements:

· We are seeking an experienced construction professional with a strong background in offshore, marine or heavy civil/mechanical engineering works.
· Experience managing offshore, marine, infrastructure or major construction works.
· Strong understanding of construction methodologies, engineering controls and temporary works.
· Experience developing and reviewing method statements, risk assessments and safe systems of work.
· Ability to manage and coordinate multidisciplinary teams and subcontractors.
· Strong planning and programming skills with experience monitoring progress against programme.
· Understanding of quality management systems, inspections and handover requirements.
· Good knowledge of commercial processes, cost control and subcontract management.
· Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
· Strong problem-solving ability and a proactive, solution-oriented approach.
· Understanding of offshore quality management and project deliverables.
· Experience working within the energy, marine or nuclear sectors.
· Knowledge of commercial processes, procurement and subcontract management.

Why Join Us?

For more than 60 years, nuclear power stations in the UK have been quietly keeping Britain fuelled with massive amounts of home-grown energy.

Our teams up and down the country are proudly continuing to serve the nation – but they also have an eye on the future.

EDF is leading the UK's nuclear renaissance with the construction of a new nuclear power station at Hinkley Point C and plans for a new power station at Sizewell C in Suffolk.

Nuclear power is the most reliable, low-carbon energy source currently available to the UK. EDF is playing a key role in the development of nuclear sites, while Hinkley Point C will provide low-carbon electricity to meet 7% of the UK demand. The project is already making a positive impact on the local and national economy as well as boosting skills and education.

We’re not just building new nuclear power stations. We’re developing careers, upskilling generations and creating thousands of employment and apprenticeship opportunities across a variety of skills areas.

It takes a special kind of person to work in the nuclear energy industry and although we have thousands of them there’s always a need for more.

Our industry has a mind-boggling range of opportunities and more jobs, and in more places, than you might think. But it’s also an industry which is changing.

We’re a responsible business and proud to be Britain’s biggest generator of zero carbon electricity. With size, age and experience, we believe we can do even more.
