Internal Inspection Agency Manager
Location: Aztec West (Bristol), or Bridgwater – hybrid working
Ready to lead a team whose work directly safeguards pressure systems across some of the UK’s most complex nuclear projects? Motivated by ensuring safety, compliance, and engineering excellence through rigorous inspection and assurance? At EDF, Success is Personal — and in this role, your leadership will help shape the quality and integrity of systems powering the nation’s energy future.
The Opportunity
As an Internal Inspection Agency Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role within our Pressure Compliance function, overseeing the delivery of second‑party inspection, pressure systems conformity assurance, and regulatory‑aligned pressure system compliance programmes. Your leadership will ensure that our engineering, manufacturing, and installation partners meet the highest quality and safety standards, supporting EDF’s transition towards An Electric Britain.
You’ll join us on a competitive salary, with the potential for an annual bonus. This role is based at either our #Bristol or #Bridgwater locations, with weekly visits to Hinkley Point C (HPC), and occasional travel to other UK or international locations connected to project delivery.
From leading ISO 17020 Type B organisational capabilities to managing multimillion‑pound inspection programmes and overseeing diverse technical teams, this role offers exceptional scope for growth. You’ll engage with senior stakeholders, Regulators, Responsible Designers, and engineering partners — all while contributing to EDF’s journey towards An Electric Britain and enhancing your expertise across one of the world’s most ambitious nuclear programmes.
Who You Are
We’re looking for an Internal Inspection Agency Manager who thrives in complex, regulated engineering environments and leads with confidence, clarity, and technical authority. You’ll bring the following skills and experience…

Background in mechanical engineering
Managing large‑scale engineering or asset‑management programmes within a regulated industry (nuclear, power generation, petrochemical, or oil & gas)
Pressure systems engineering, including manufacture, installation, structural integrity, and conformity assessment
Working with regulators and supply chain organisations on pressure compliance
Leading multi‑disciplinary teams and managing significant budgets (circa £20m per annum)
What You’ll Be Doing
Leading the end‑to‑end delivery of complex second‑party inspection and conformity assessment programmes
Managing ISO 17020 Type B equivalent inspection arrangements and ensuring technical compliance
Overseeing programme strategy, governance, budget planning, and resource management
Interfacing with Regulators, senior stakeholders, Responsible Designers, and contract partners
Ensuring your teams deliver safe, high‑quality engineering assurance across UK and international locations
Pay, Benefits and Culture
Alongside a competitive salary, potential for an annual bonus, and a market-leading pension scheme, your package will include customisable benefits such as electric vehicle leasing, discounted gym membership, life assurance, tech vouchers, experience days, and more.
