Integration Lead (Nuclear Systems)

Bristol, hybrid working

Ready to shape the future of nuclear energy? Join us as a Nuclear Systems Integration Lead and play a pivotal role in delivering the UK’s next-generation power stations.

The Opportunity

At Hinkley Point C (HPC), we are building two new nuclear reactors—the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK—providing low carbon electricity for around six million homes.

As part of EDF EPR Engineering UK (EPR-E), you’ll be at the heart of a team driving the integration of complex systems to meet critical commissioning milestones. You’ll lead the maturity of system designs, ensuring they’re ready for safe and efficient commissioning, while collaborating across disciplines to align design, documentation, and delivery.

Pay, Benefits & Culture

The salary associated with this role is from £54,000 (grade B) dependent on experience. We offer a competitive benefits package, including a company pension scheme, and a wide range of flexible benefits to suit your lifestyle.

We’re talking about everything from enhanced parental leave to electric vehicle leasing, health insurance to product discounts, critical illness insurance to technology vouchers, gym membership to season ticket loans.

At EDF UK, we embrace flexibility while recognising that everyone's working needs are different. Whether you're in our office spaces, on site, or working remotely, we promote an environment that supports collaboration, connection, and comfort. No matter where you are, our priority is to make sure you feel safe, valued, and celebrated.

Here, we do right by each other and everyone’s welcome. We’re on an action-oriented journey, championing equity, diversity, and inclusion. We’d like our future workforce to have an equal gender balance, represent a broad mix of people from minority ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQ+, those with a disability and supporting social mobility.

We’re a disability confident employer and we’ll do all we can to help with your application. Please let us know if you need to request reasonable adjustments.

We take pride in fostering a dynamic and inclusive environment, where the diverse backgrounds and experiences of our employees drive fresh thinking and innovation. We understand that success means different things to different people. We believe there are multiple definitions of what it means to succeed. That’s why we support you to pursue a career that’s unique to you. Because success is personal.

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll lead the integration of system designs to meet Intermediate Project Configuration Milestones (IPCM), ensuring readiness for commissioning. This includes coordinating design maturity reviews, managing open points, and aligning documentation with project requirements.

Working closely with engineering disciplines, commissioning teams, and project leadership, you’ll ensure that systems are technically sound, compliant, and delivered on time. You’ll also support risk assessments and help implement design changes that align with project priorities.

Your role will be central to ensuring that the systems are not only technically mature but also fully aligned with the commissioning strategy—making you a key contributor to the success of the HPC project.

Who You Are

You’ll have a background in nuclear plant design, ideally with exposure to system commissioning. Your ability to analyse complex technical challenges and synthesise solutions makes you a trusted voice in multidisciplinary teams.

You’re confident in your judgement but open to collaboration and continuous improvement. A background in mechanical engineering is desirable, and fluency in English is essential. French language skills are a bonus.

You’re someone who thrives in a dynamic environment, values safety and quality, and is motivated by the opportunity to contribute to a project of national significance.

Why Join Us?

For more than 60 years, nuclear power stations in the UK have been quietly keeping Britain fuelled with massive amounts of home-grown energy.

Our teams up and down the country are proudly continuing to serve the nation – but they also have an eye on the future.

EDF is leading the UK's nuclear renaissance with the construction of a new nuclear power station at Hinkley Point C and plans for a new power station at Sizewell C in Suffolk.

Nuclear power is the most reliable, low-carbon energy source currently available to the UK. EDF is playing a key role in the development of nuclear sites, while Hinkley Point C will provide low-carbon electricity to meet 7% of the UK demand. The project is already making a positive impact on the local and national economy as well as boosting skills and education.

We’re not just building new nuclear power stations. We’re developing careers, upskilling generations and creating thousands of employment and apprenticeship opportunities across a variety of skills areas.

It takes a special kind of person to work in the nuclear energy industry and although we have thousands of them there’s always a need for more.

Our industry has a mind-boggling range of opportunities and more jobs, and in more places, than you might think. But it’s also an industry which is changing.

We’re a responsible business and proud to be Britain’s biggest generator of zero carbon electricity. With size, age and experience, we believe we can do even more.
