About Sizewell C
Sizewell C is one of the UK’s most significant infrastructure projects, delivering low‑carbon energy for generations. Joining us means contributing to a project of national importance, supporting energy security, regional growth, and long-term skilled employment.
We are seeking Engineering Managers to support the Nuclear delivery programme of Conventional Island, Heat Sink and Balance of Plant.
Are you ready to play a pivotal role in one of the most ambitious and transformative projects in the UK? The Sizewell C Technical Directorate (TD) are looking for passionate Engineering Managers to join us across our dynamic delivery programme: Conventional Island/BOP (CI-BOP).
Conventional Island (CI) refers to the part of a power plant that directly generates electricity, including systems like the boiler, turbine, generator, and condenser. Balance of Plant (BOP) encompasses the supporting infrastructure and systems that ensure the plant operates efficiently, such as electrical, cooling, fuel handling, and control systems, but are not directly involved in power generation.
The Heat Sink Programme (HS or HSK) is another major nuclear engineering programme responsible for the design, delivery and assurance of cooling and heat‑rejection systems essential to nuclear safety. The programme spans complex, regulated environments and ensures that robust, resilient heat removal capability is maintained during normal operations, abnormal events, and emergency scenarios.
Why These Role Matters
As the Engineering Manager for one of associate programs, you’ll be the crucial connection between the Sizewell C Technical Directorate and our delivery programmes. You’ll be embedded within your programme, ensuring the seamless integration of technical expertise to meet objectives and priorities.
In this role you will:
Lead and co‑ordinate a high‑performing, multi‑disciplinary engineering team drawn from the Technical Directorate, Delivery Programmes and Nuclear Services. As a PEM you'll have responsibility for managing direct reports, with a growing team engineers within the Technical Directorate.
Provide visible, proactive leadership to the multi‑disciplinary team, offering clear direction, expert guidance and timely support to enable individuals and teams to deliver against demanding project objectives.
Lead by example setting and reinforcing the expected project behaviours, culture, and standards and creating an environment where accountability, collaboration and excellence are the norm.
Qualifications & Skills:
To thrive in this role, you’ll need a blend of leadership, technical expertise, and adaptability in complex environments:
• A degree in Mechanical and/or Electrical Engineering
• Proven experience in engineering management within large-scale infrastructure projects.
• Highly effective negotiator, skilled in reaching counsel and consensus with senior stakeholders across the business.
• A passion for delivering high-quality solutions in complex, fast-paced environments.
• Proven ability to build and lead diverse teams.
• Expertise in design processes and technical design systems.
• Experience in complex, high-safety regulatory environments.
• Skilled in engineering systems, documentation, and nuclear specifications (e.g., BTR, BTS).
• French language speaking would be advantageous.
If this sounds like the next step in your career, we’d love to hear from you. Apply today.
