Commercial Lead

Job description

Ready to lead excellence at one of Europe’s largest infrastructure projects? Want to shape the future of nuclear energy and help Britain achieve net zero? At EDF, Success is Personal – and with us, your career journey is yours to shape.

The Opportunity

As Commercial Lead – Data & Insight, you’ll take ownership of the data, reporting and insight capability that underpins commercial and supply chain decision‑making across the NNB Directorate. You’ll act as the organisation’s key authority on data management and commercial intelligence, shaping a world‑class reporting framework that delivers clear, actionable understanding of supplier performance, commercial risk and emerging trends.

This is a hybrid role based at #AztecWest, Bristol, with flexibility to work from home. You’ll be expected to be on site at least three days per week, with occasional requirements to work from other office locations as needed.

You’ll lead a multidisciplinary team of Commercial Managers and Data Analysts, driving the delivery of high‑quality reporting and strategic insight. With strong commercial acumen and working knowledge of major contract forms such as NEC and FIDIC, you’ll interpret complex datasets in a way that accurately reflects contractual positions and risk exposure, ensuring the Directorate can make informed, evidence‑based decisions.

This is a pivotal leadership role within the Supply Chain Directorate. You’ll collaborate closely with senior stakeholders, guide improvement workstreams and bring together coherent insight that informs strategic direction. Your expertise in data principles and information management will be central to strengthening commercial performance and enabling the organisation to operate with clarity, confidence and intelligence.

Who You Are

We’re looking for a Commercial Lead who’s confident, commercially astute and delivery‑focused. Do you offer…

Deep expertise in data management and reporting, with the ability to turn complex information into clear, board‑level insight.
Strong commercial acumen and extensive experience with NEC and FIDIC contracts, supported by a solid understanding of UK law and its impact on commercial governance.
Proven ability to influence and engage senior leaders, building trusted relationships and driving alignment across multidisciplinary teams.
A strong track record in risk management, issue resolution and operating within complex systems and assurance environments.
Professional accreditation (RICS, CICES, IOB or equivalent), a relevant degree and demonstrable experience delivering high‑value commercial decisions.
Highly developed problem‑solving, negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to shape innovative, collaborative approaches in a fast‑changing landscape, and supply chain management, ideally within nuclear or major infrastructure.

What You’ll Be Doing

Leading the Insight & Improvement team to deliver high‑quality commercial reporting, analysis and strategic insight that strengthens Supply Chain performance.
Driving capability development and a culture of continuous improvement, ensuring the team operates at pace and to the highest standards.
Ensuring all data, reporting and commercial support activities are delivered in full alignment with NNB commercial procedures and governance expectations.
Acting as a key interface with the Supply Chain Senior Leadership Team, shaping insight that informs strategic decision‑making.
Overseeing delivery of complex programmes of work, including commercial risk reporting, dispute and claim escalation processes, and integration of commercial risk into the wider HPC Risk Model.
Owning the development of strategic commercial insight, enabling HPC to better understand risk, value opportunities and supply chain performance to support effective decision‑making.

Pay, Benefits and Culture

Alongside a salary from £95,000, potential for an annual bonus, and a market-leading pension scheme, your package will include customisable benefits such as electric vehicle leasing, discounted gym membership, life assurance, tech vouchers, experience days, and more.

At EDF, we believe there are multiple definitions of what it means to succeed. That’s why we offer you the freedom to develop a career that’s unique to you. Here, Success is Personal – it’s your journey, powered by us.

Why Join Us?

For more than 60 years, nuclear power stations in the UK have been quietly keeping Britain fuelled with massive amounts of home-grown energy.

Our teams up and down the country are proudly continuing to serve the nation – but they also have an eye on the future.

EDF is leading the UK's nuclear renaissance with the construction of a new nuclear power station at Hinkley Point C and plans for a new power station at Sizewell C in Suffolk.

Nuclear power is the most reliable, low-carbon energy source currently available to the UK. EDF is playing a key role in the development of nuclear sites, while Hinkley Point C will provide low-carbon electricity to meet 7% of the UK demand. The project is already making a positive impact on the local and national economy as well as boosting skills and education.

We’re not just building new nuclear power stations. We’re developing careers, upskilling generations and creating thousands of employment and apprenticeship opportunities across a variety of skills areas.

It takes a special kind of person to work in the nuclear energy industry and although we have thousands of them there’s always a need for more.

Our industry has a mind-boggling range of opportunities and more jobs, and in more places, than you might think. But it’s also an industry which is changing.

We’re a responsible business and proud to be Britain’s biggest generator of zero carbon electricity. With size, age and experience, we believe we can do even more.
