Assistant Project Manager
Full-Time, Permanent. Contractual Location, Aztec West, Bristol. 3-4 days a week in office and the other 1-2 days working from home or other office.
Are you ready to play a pivotal role in one of the UK’s most ambitious low-carbon energy projects? If you thrive in complex environments, enjoy building strong stakeholder relationships, and are passionate about delivering high-quality results safely and efficiently—this could be your next big move.
The Opportunity
At Hinkley Point C (HPC) we are building two new nuclear reactors, the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK providing low carbon electricity for around six million homes.
As our new Assistant Project Manager, you’ll be at the heart of delivering detailed design engineering activities that support this landmark project. You’ll help ensure that every phase of the contract lifecycle is aligned with the overall project schedule, while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and performance.
You’ll take ownership of planning and execution across RD and Nuclear Services Contracts, ensuring engineering deliverables are completed on time, within budget, and to exacting standards. This is your chance to make a real impact on the UK’s energy future.
Pay, benefits and culture
In addition to a competitive salary depending on experience, we offer flexible benefits that support our employees’ physical, emotional, and financial wellbeing. Examples include: a market-leading company pension scheme, a bonus plan, health cover, electric vehicle leasing, mental health support and employee discounts.
At EDF, everyone is welcome. We strive to create an inclusive and diverse environment where everyone has a voice and where you feel confident being yourself. We are committed to equality, diversity, and inclusion. We would like our future workforce to have an equal gender balance, represent a broad mix of people from minority ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQ+, those with a disability and supporting social mobility.
We are a disability confident employer and will do all we can to support you through your recruitment journey with us. If you would like to talk about adjustments, or support you may need, please note this within your application.
We will value the difference you bring and give you opportunities to thrive and succeed.
What You’ll Be Doing
In this role, you’ll be the bridge between technical teams and stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and alignment across all project phases. You’ll lead by example, championing health, safety, and quality standards while fostering a culture of nuclear professionalism.
You’ll oversee the delivery of key contracts, track progress against milestones, and ensure that all deliverables meet business and technical requirements. Your ability to anticipate and resolve issues will be crucial in keeping the project on track and within scope.
You’ll also manage interfaces between contractors and internal teams, coordinate stakeholder involvement, and provide regular updates on performance and progress. Your work will directly contribute to the success of one of the most significant infrastructure projects in the UK.
Who You Are
You bring a solid background in managing complex engineering or construction projects, with experience in Project Management or Project Engineering. You’re confident working with NEC contracts and ideally hold a degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant science or engineering discipline.
Your organisational and communication skills are second to none, and you have a natural ability to lead and coordinate diverse teams. You’re commercially aware, a quick learner, and a proactive problem-solver who thrives in dynamic environments.
You understand the importance of safety and compliance, with a good grasp of Health & Safety legislation, including CDM and Nuclear Site License requirements. Familiarity with power station design—especially EPR or NPP—is a bonus, but your commitment to excellence is what truly sets you apart.
