As the Safety, Health and Environmental Advisor you will be supporting the Safety, Health and Environmental Manager to drive and champion continuous performance safety improvements in all areas of the business, ensuring the compliance of the regulatory environment in which the business operates; and help promote a positive safety culture throughout the organisation.


SPS provides the passenger transport needs for one of the largest construction projects in Europe - Hinkley Point C.  We transport thousands of clients to and from the site every day, working 24/7 to ensure that construction remains on schedule.

Summary of key tasks:


•    Provide proactive support and guidance to the Company on compliance with statutory Safety, Health and Environmental requirements and company standards.
•    Assisting in the completion of risk assessments relating to Safety, Health and Environmental as required.
•    Proactively work with operational teams to ensure that Safety, Health and Environmental are considered at all stages and that relevant control measures are identified.
•    Undertaking monitoring and auditing of the company's activities, offices and work locations.
•    Responsible for ensuring effective close out of corrective actions raised, open incident reports, and significant site issues.
•    Effectively distribute and communicate Safety, Health and Environmental information to the organisation.
•    Ensure that an adequate programme of training for Safety, Health and Environmental is established and that the safety culture is encouraged amongst employees.
•    Raise awareness on Safety, Health and Environmental issues through toolbox talks and briefings, delivering training where necessary.
•    Aware of all health, safety and environment requirements in relation to the HPC project and ensure that they are fulfilled within the Company.
•    Attend all relevant Health, Safety and Environment meetings with HPC including all documentation required, and report back to the Health, Safety Environmental Manager.
•    Ensure the company meets or exceeds all KPI's at all times.


Qualifications / knowledge required:


Essential: 


•    Driving licence
•    NEBOSH Certificate (or equivalent)
•    Professional membership (IOSH)


Desirable:


•    Knowledge of transport industry
•    NEBOSH Diploma


Summary of essential skills / experience required:


Essential:


•    Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role
•    Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office based packages  and H&S systems
•    Excellent written and verbal communication skills in order to work with, provide advice to, train, and promote excellence in Health and Safety to all staff 
•    Ability to drive behavioural culture change programmes across a large, complex, multi shift operation.
•    Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines 
•    Keen eye for detail and a methodical approach to work
•    A flexible approach to working hours as we are a 24/7 business


 Desirable:


•    Desire to progress within the Health & Safety industry
•    Ability to produce analyst data and performance reports
•    Ability to produce analyst data and produce performance reports
•    Confident and willing to communicate with senior managers, clients and site personnel
