Project Manager
The HPC Jobs Service supports local people into exciting, long-term careers across our Project.
Job description
SDC, Bridgwater - with flexibility of working from home, minimum 3 days a week in the office.
Are you a confident Project Manager ready to take on one of the UK’s most exciting infrastructure challenges? Do you thrive in complex, regulated environments where leadership, collaboration, and problem-solving are key to success? Are you experienced in engineering, construction, or contract delivery and looking to make a real impact on the UK’s energy future? If so, come and join EDF as a Project Manager!
The Opportunity
As a Project Manager, you’ll lead the end-to-end delivery of engineering, procurement, manufacturing, construction, and commissioning activities for a contract or work package within Hinkley Point C
You’ll work within a multi-disciplinary team environment, ensuring all aspects of planning and execution meet stringent safety, quality, time, and cost standards. Reporting to a Senior Project Manager, you’ll drive project outcomes that align with the broader programme schedule, contributing to the UK’s next generation of nuclear power.
Pay, benefits and culture
Alongside a starting salary of £62,000 and a market-leading pension scheme, your package will include a range of benefits, from the big and formal to the small and personal.
We’re talking about everything from enhanced parental leave to electric vehicle leasing, health insurance to product discounts, critical illness insurance to technology vouchers, gym membership to season ticket loans.
At EDF UK, we embrace flexibility while recognising that everyone's working needs are different. Whether you're in our office spaces, on site, or working remotely, we promote an environment that supports collaboration, connection, and comfort. No matter where you are, our priority is to make sure you feel safe, valued, and celebrated.
Here, we do right by each other and everyone’s welcome. We’re on an action-oriented journey, championing equity, diversity, and inclusion. We’d like our future workforce to have an equal gender balance, represent a broad mix of people from minority ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQ+, those with a disability and supporting social mobility.
We’re a disability confident employer and we’ll do all we can to help with your application. Please let us know if you need to request reasonable adjustments.
We take pride in fostering a dynamic and inclusive environment, where the diverse backgrounds and experiences of our employees drive fresh thinking and innovation. We understand that success means different things to different people. We believe there are multiple definitions of what it means to succeed. That’s why we support you to pursue a career that’s unique to you. Because success is personal.
What you’ll be doing
Working closely with the Senior Project Manager, you’ll help shape and implement delivery strategies that align with the overall programme execution plan. This includes securing the right resources for your project, maintaining Suitably Qualified and Experienced Personnel (SQEP) standards, and swiftly addressing any team shortfalls.
Responsibility for driving progress across your assigned scope falls to you - ensuring activities are delivered safely on time, and within budget. You monitor milestones, track performance, and provide regular updates to stakeholders. When challenges arise, you’ll take the lead in managing risks, resolving issues, and escalating concerns. Supporting schedule development and ensuring alignment with the wider project timeline is also part of your remit.
Knowledge sharing and continuous improvement are part of your daily routine, with lessons learned consistently applied to enhance delivery. You maintain close collaboration with other programmes to keep a broad perspective on project progress and to integrate proven best practices.
You will take ownership of ensuring contractual commitments are fulfilled within your scope of work, and any compliance concerns are promptly escalated to the Senior Project Manager for resolution.
Who you are
You’ll bring strong leadership skills and a proven ability to deliver complex projects safely and efficiently. With experience in engineering, construction, and contract management, you’ll be confident working across multi-disciplinary teams. Familiarity with CDM Regulations and commercial frameworks such as NEC or FIDIC will support your success in this role.
Using project management tools, you’ll plan, track, and oversee progress—managing cost, schedule, risk, and change effectively. Your numeracy and problem-solving abilities are essential, as is your skill in presenting ideas and influencing others. A solid understanding of nuclear quality standards and how they’re assured will be key to maintaining compliance and performance.
We’re looking for someone who thrives in regulated environments and can build strong, collaborative relationships with contractors, consultants, and stakeholders. While a degree or professional project management qualification is desirable, what matters most is your ability to lead with confidence, deliver results, and adapt to evolving challenges.
If this sounds like you then we’d love to hear from you!
Additionally, you must meet the criteria for Security Vetting, which generally requires you to have been a UK resident for at least 3 of the last 5 years.
For this role you must have evidence of right to work in the UK. As a project, we do not discriminate on the grounds of age, gender, race, colour, religion, disability or sexual orientation, and we welcome applications from all sections of the community.
