Role Characteristics:
Hinkley Point C is the UK’s first new build nuclear power station in a generation that is critical to the UK NetZero targets.
All roles on the project require key behaviours which support the Zero Harm objective, a questioning attitude, and drive to uphold the standards of safety and quality required by this prestigious project. A committed strong work ethic is essential at all levels.
All candidates are expected to demonstrate their knowledge and experience where possible directly related to the criteria required for the role. It is acknowledged that previous Nuclear based experience will not always be possible, as such supporting with project research and how individual skills may be transferable will be important.

 

Accountabilities:    

  • Operating Environment and Framework & Boundaries. The Dalkia Temporary Works Team is based on-site at Hinkley Point C. Work is conducted from site offices with regular site visits as required.
  • As a Tier 1 contractor onsite, you will be required to manage all aspects of Temporary Works each work packages in line with the Dalkia TW procedure ensuring client requirements are achieved. The Principal Temporary Works Coordinator will collaborate closely with all stakeholders to develop and deliver Temporary Works on-site.

 

Key Deliverables:    

  • Managing Temporary Works (TW) according to BS 5975: 2019.
  • Fulfilling TWC requirements as per BS 5975: 2019 Clause 11.
  • Reporting directly to the Dalkia TWDI and working closely with the NNB Temporary Works Lead on site to deliver engineering design solutions.
  • Develop and verifying approved Temporary Works designs before commencement.
  • Ensuring compliance with CDM Regulations 2015 and all legislative and standards relating to Temporary Works. 
  • Mentoring and developing a team of TWSs.
  • Collaborating with contractors’ TWCs to manage Temporary Works.
  • Participating in Tier 1 Contractor workshops and promoting cross-site technical information flow.
  • Attending and contributing to various meetings and providing advice on Temporary Works.
  • Identifying and mitigating potential Temporary Works issues.
  • Ensuring formal design decisions and proper execution of works per approved risk assessments and designs
  • Ensuring a design brief is prepared with consultation with the project team that is brief is accurate to actual situation on site 
  • Ensuring a design check is carried out by a competent authority who was not involved with the original design.
  • Formalising an inspection and test plan alongside quality control check lists to verify Temporary Works meet certified design standards
  • Ensuring adequate checks are carried out upon completion of the Temporary Works to confirm no adverse effects on the Permanent Works and certification signed by TWD and TWDC

 

Minimum Qualifications/ Experience 
(as per MEH matrix)

  • Extensive knowledge of construction techniques and Temporary Works.
  • Strong understanding of BS 5975: 2019.
  • Excellent organisational, delegation, and communication skills.
  • Experience leading and motivating teams.
  • Proven experience managing complex Temporary Works projects.
  • Familiarity with CDM Regulations design obligations.
  • Strong English communication skills.
  • Experience reviewing and applying contractor Temporary Works procedures
  • Additional Qualifications/ Experience:    Essential
  • Minimum 5 years as a Lead TWC in Engineering Construction environment.
  • Demonstrable experience as a Temporary Works Coordinator and/or Designer.
  • Proficiency in relevant design and engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, STAAD.Pro, or similar).
  • Incorporated Engineer (IEng) or Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with a recognised engineering institution (e.g. Institution of Structural Engineers).
  • Certification from the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) as a Temporary Works Coordinator.
  • NEBOSH, or equivalent.
  • SMSTS or equivalent.

 

Desirable

  • Confined Spaces certification.
  • Experience on the HPC site.
  • Skills
  • Must have demonstrated effective multitasking and project management skills
  • Must have strong interpersonal, collaboration and communication skills and be able to build relationships and advise senior management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and business acumen, with the ability to challenge and champion change.
  • Experienced in discussing and managing performance, giving feedback and agreeing changes.
  • Self-motivated with excellent time and priority management

  • High levels of IT literacy
