Potential for further opportunities to travel to Power Plants in the UK and worldwide and support our internal and external customers with installation, stripdown, inspection, maintenance activities and reassembly of power units and their auxiliaries on units ranging from 2MW through to 2000MW.

This position requires technical competency  in reading and interpreting engineering documentation, Technical & Quality instructions and Engineering drawings. Knowledge of Steam Turbines and Generator Technology is desired but consideration will be given to experience within the Power Industry and large scale construction projects.


Essential Function & Responsibilities

 

  • Follow Appropriate GE Policies, Procedures and complete necessary documentation.
  • Technical support - installation and preventative / corrective maintenance in customer's equipment, maintaining all models of specific equipment of one or more modalities in the assigned area.
  • Identify customer equipment issues
  • Interpretation of Engineering Drawings
  • Maintain communication with customers as directed, to ensure resolution and proper follow-up, leading to strong customer relations and and ongoing customer satisfaction.
  • Work as a member of local team to provide efficient service delivery to all accounts within the assigned area;
  • Develop strong customer relationships and serve as an interface between the customer and all GE organisations, creating "a One GE" for the customer
  • Comply with the integrity and compliance guidelines as well as promote a safe working environment and ensure compliance with applicable EHS policies and procedures.
  • Understand  aspects of mechanical engineering measuring techniques to very high tolerances.
  • Work under strict Foreign Material Exclusion rules.
  • Contribute in the setting to work process, questioning attitude and briefings
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications/Experience : 

 

  • Recognised Time served Apprenticeship or Equilavent Recognised Training Qualification ie Improvership
  • City & Guilds or NVQ Equivalent in Mechanical Studies
  • Knowledge of large rotating & static machinery would be an advantage
  • Travel to and from projects and a long term secondment to Hinkley Point C will be required.
  • Basic IT Literacy required.
  • Fluent in English language.
  • Knowledge of Large Steam Turbine,  Generator installation and overhaul would be an advantage
  • Demonstrates individual & team skills.
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
