About Hinkley Point C


The first new nuclear power station to be built in the UK in over 20 years; Hinkley Point C in Somerset will provide low-carbon electricity for around 6 million homes, create thousands of jobs and bring lasting benefits to the UK economy.


Marking a significant milestone in the revitalisation of our nuclear power industry, Hinkley Point C will make a major contribution to the UKs move to reduce carbon emissions. The electricity generated by its two EPR reactors will offset 9 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions a year, or 600 million tonnes over its 60-year lifespan.

 

What you'll be doing

 

 As a Fire Safety Advisor, you will have the following responsibilities,



  • Support the Hinkley Point C Way, ensuring the Site works effectively and works to one Culture, managing and owning Emergency Exercises to support MEH Alliance Exercise Programme.

  • Write own Emergency Preparedness, write reports and identify key learning from Exercises.

  • Write and own Fire Risk Assessments and fire Safety Procedures.

  • Maintain EP/Fire & Rescue standards and champion Health and They will support locally, at platform level, champion relevant communities of best practice.

  • Undertake Fire Safety Assurance Audits, Inspections and other monitoring activities of both controlled areas and all site contractors to ensure compliance with site Fire Safety Standards and UK legislation.

  • To carry out suitable and sufficient fire risk assessments and review Fire Risk Assessments carried out by others within the fire safety

 

Who we're looking for

 

Do you have?



  • NEBOSH Fire and Construction Certificates.

  • Technician Membership of professional body (IOSH or IFE etc)

  • Willing to work toward full membership of suitable professional bodies.

  • Experience producing Fire Risk Assessments in the construction or other dynamic

  • Experience in preparation of emergency plans, conducting fire drills etc.

  • Construction or emergency services rescue background / experience.

  • Thorough knowledge of the Fire Safety Regulations and how to apply in a complex construction environment.

  • Relevant degree in construction or electrical engineering, HNC in relevant construction discipline or electrical engineering with relevant experience.

  • Demonstrable experience in drafting Construction Work packs

  • Familiarity with industry-specific terminology and standards.

  • In-depth knowledge of electrical systems, codes, and standards.

  • Can achieve a SC security clearance.
