About Hinkley Point C

 

The first new nuclear power station to be built in the UK in over 20 years; Hinkley Point C in Somerset will provide low-carbon electricity for around 6 million homes, create thousands of jobs and bring lasting benefits to the UK economy.

 

Marking a significant milestone in the revitalisation of our nuclear power industry, Hinkley Point C will make a major contribution to the UKs move to reduce carbon emissions. The electricity generated by its two EPR reactors will offset 9 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions a year.

 

 

Role Purpose 


 

The HR Advisor will support the MEH Alliance HR Manager and the HR Team with supporting the MEH Alliance on all HR matters. They will provide advice and guidance to employees and Line Managers/Supervision on a variety of issues including but not limited to; absence, performance management, welfare, long term health issues, flexible working, alert cascades, disciplinaries and grievances.

 

 

What you'll be doing

 

  • Building excellent working relationships with stakeholders to facilitate communication on issues.
  • The management of ER issues/cases, ensuring that they are completed in line with the timescales set out in the policies and Common Framework Agreement.
  • Support the MEH HR Manager with the provision of day-to-day advice and guidance to supervisors and managers.
  • Manage weekly meetings with the Partner Companies to update on employees where necessary.
  • Managing sensitive and confidential information appropriately. 
  • Line Management of members of the HR Team (this will change as the team develops). 
  • Providing training on several areas to Line Managers/Supervision e.g., 1 to 1 training, Line Manager Training, Supervisor Training etc. 
  • Responsible for the People Portal and App for the HR BP team. Ensuring that he content remains appropriate, up to date and relevant. 
  • Responsible for the Annual Leave within Timesheet Portal. Ensuring accuracy in line with Partner Companies as well as regular reporting.
  • Responsible for white collar sickness and annual leave reporting and metrics. 
  • The management of the PULSE groups, coordinating regular meetings, obtaining feedback and providing updates. 
  • Supporting parent companies with the relevant PDR processes.
  • Monitoring completion rates. 
  • Ensuring setting and monitoring of annual objectives.
  • Reviewing completion rates at the end of each year. 
  • Undertaking biannual Talent Management Forums to monitor succession plans and those requiring additional support. 
  • Additional appropriate ad hoc duties as agreed with MEH Line Manage

 

Who we're looking for

 


  • CIPD L3 – Desirable or equivalent HR experience and exposure.
  • Previous experience of coordinating HR activities.
  • Previous experience of HR processes and procedures and the implementation.
  • An ability to work accurately and to high levels of detail.
  • Able to manage a busy workload and multiple priorities.
  • Strong administrative skills.
  • Previous experience in a Trade Union/construction environment advantage.
