Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Follow Appropriate GE Policies, Procedures and complete necessary documentation.
  • Adopt a safety first attitude to including active involvement in the effective implementation and running of all EHS programs.
  • Technical support - installation and preventative / corrective maintenance in customer's equipment, maintaining all models of specific equipment of one or more modalities in the assigned area.
  • Interpretation of Engineering Drawings
  • Maintain communication with customers as directed, to ensure resolution and proper follow-up, leading to strong customer relations and and ongoing customer satisfaction.
  • Work as a member of local team to provide efficient service delivery to all accounts within the assigned area;
  • Develop strong customer relationships and serve as an interface between the customer and all GE organisations, creating "a One GE" for the customer
  • Comply with the integrity and compliance guidelines as well as promote a safe working environment and ensure compliance with applicable EHS policies and procedures.
  • Understand  aspects of mechanical / electrical engineering measuring techniques to very high tolerances.
  • Work under strict Foreign Material Exclusion rules.
  • Contribute in the setting to work process, questioning attitude and briefings
  • Responsible for the maintenance, diagnosis and repair of all electrical, control and instrumentation equipment on the facility.
  • Provision of a service function to the Operations department in order to maximize availability and reliability and protect the owner's investment.
  • Carrying out hands on breakdown and maintenance activities in accordance with prescribed quality system, procedures and OEM recommendations. Supervision of support contractors providing specialised services and labour during peak maintenance periods and ensuring they have been inducted and are fully aware of all site Environmental, Health and Safety legislation, regulations and requirements.
  • Maintenance, diagnosis and repair of DCS, PLC's, I/O devices, primary measuring elements,
  • Calibration and verification of a variety of devices.
  • Populating and utilizing the Computerised Maintenance Management System and recording of all planned and unplanned maintenance activities.
  • Maintenance diagnosis and repair of heavy electrical equipment including HV generators, switchgear, AVR's, transformers, inverters etc.
  • Work at all times to maximize availability and reliability of the plant.
  • Perform the prescribed duties under the facilities Safe Working Procedures System.
  • Provide adequate cover for planned and breakdown maintenance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications/Experience : 

 

  • Hold relevant technical qualifications such as HNC/ NVQ/ C&G/ COMPEX in electrical engineering. Ideally hold a recognized engineering apprenticeship. 
  • Experience of DCS Systems, PLC's, Instrumentation, LV Electrical equipment. 
  • Hands on experience in a medium to heavy industrial environment (preferably the power industry), working in a multi-disciplined team with the ability to operate under their own initiative. 
  • Knowledge of large rotating & static machinery would be an advantage
  • Knowledge of electrical systems and the nature of electrical hazards.
  • Travel to and from projects and a long term secondment to Hinkley Point C will be required.
  • Basic IT Literacy required.
  • Good understanding of Microsoft office tools such as Word and Excel. 
  • Fluent in English language.
  • Knowledge of Large Steam Turbine,  Generator installation and overhaul would be an advantage
  • Demonstrates individual & team skills.
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills  
  • Experience working with HV Electrical equipment and associated safe systems of work is advantageous.
  • Initiative, concentration and excellent communication skills, listening and establishing interpersonal relationships;
  • Strong time management and organizational skills; 
  • Self-motivated
  • Experience developing and maintaining good customer relations. 
  • Ability to deliver results in an uncertain environment, ability to multitask and prioritize.
