Duty Manager
HOST


Salary: £35000-£40000PA

Permanent

40 hours per week

 

The Duty Manager is accountable for the overall management of the HOST campus whilst on duty. With an in-depth knowledge of all areas of operations the Duty Manager will be capable of managing any given situation that may arise in a calm and professional manner, in keeping with HOST's policies and procedures, whilst utilising resources appropriate for the task. Robust communication and effective teamworking will be critical for success.
Shift Management & Handover

 

•    Adhere to a Duty Manager schedule (including evenings and weekends on a rotational  basis).
•    At the beginning of every shift, receive a comprehensive handover from the outgoing Duty Manager/Security Team Leader.
•    At the end of every shift, provide a full handover to the incoming Duty Manager/Security Team Leader.
•    Keep a meticulous Duty Manager log, recording all pertinent information in line with GDPR.
•    Utilise robust communication channels to ensure effective and complete handovers.


Operational Oversight


•    Maintain communication with all departmental teams, identifying and supporting potential issues.
•    Ensure all operations are running smoothly, maximising revenue opportunities, and ensuring guest satisfaction.
•    Ensure presence in key areas during peak times.
•    Walk the building regularly, engaging with guests, checking in with staff, spotting hazards, and ensuring smooth operations.
•    Conduct site inspections and audits as required.
•    Ensure meeting room set-ups are completed for the next day, in line with Event Orders.


Guest Experience & Engagement


•    Be highly visible to guests and team members, remaining fully contactable at all times.
•    Proactively engage with guests, enquire about their stay, and handle complaints professionally.
•    Focus on brand essence: "A good night's sleep means a good day's work" in a Zero Harm environment.
•    Ensure guest welfare and conduct trackers are maintained.


Compliance & Policy Adherence


•    Be fully conversant in all HOST policies, procedures, and SOPs.
•    Ensure decisions are compliant with HOST standards.
•    Support colleagues in maintaining defined SOP standards.
•    Understand and contribute to Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental, and Quality Policy objectives.


People Leadership & HR


•    Be a confident decision maker, quickly assessing situations and advocating solutions.
•    Deal with reasonable HR issues that arise out of hours.
•    Lead Campus teams in delivering objectives and managing incidents.
•    Act as a credible leader, role-modelling HOST values and behaviours.
•    Create and sustain a work environment aligned with the company vision, mission, and values.


Emergency & Incident Management


•    Be trained and competent in managing emergencies in line with HOST Emergency Procedures and SOPs.
•    Maintain a safe working environment for all teams.
•    Control incidents & follow-ups, including professional report writing.


Business Knowledge & Decision-Making


•    Gain a solid understanding of the HOST business and undertake relevant training.
•    Be knowledgeable in the Campus business model and operational processes.
•    Ensure business decisions are effective, well-thought-out, and support operational efficiency.
•    Any other reasonable duties required to support business operations.

 

Experience:

 

•    Demonstrable success in a similar role or a transferable skill set
•    Excellent Customer Service skills
•    Able to work on own initiative
•    Strategic in their over-all approach to business and a confident decision maker
•    Highly efficient with the ability to prioritise tasks
•    Accountable for their decisions and follow ups
•    Excellent communication skills adaptable to a wide range of audiences
•    Meticulous record keeping skills
•    Base level H&S training
