About the role

Become part of the first new nuclear power station to be built in the UK in over 20 years! Join our Balfour Beatty Kilpatrick team as a Construction Manager on the Hinkley Point Project and develop with this amazing project.


About Hinkley Point C


The first new nuclear power station to be built in the UK in over 20 years; Hinkley Point C in Somerset will provide low-carbon electricity for around 6 million homes, create thousands of jobs and bring lasting benefits to the UK economy.

Marking a significant milestone in the revitalisation of our nuclear power industry, Hinkley Point C will make a major contribution to the UKs move to reduce carbon emissions. The electricity generated by its two EPR reactors will offset 9 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions a year.


What you'll be doing

  • Provide and demonstrate a positive HSE leadership, building a strong and compliant HS&E culture throughout the whole construction life cycle of the Project
  • Ensuring all site activities are undertaken safely and responsibly, and in accordance with the CDM Regulations.
  • Be responsible for partner reach back support regarding Payroll / HR / IR / Plant and ICT issues raised at site.
  • Lead, manage and motivate the project construction team through implementation of best practice in line with partner and project expectations.
  • Support the planning and execution of construction on a day-to-day basis and ensuring forecasts and reports are provided as required.
  • Liaison with all MEH Alliance departments for construction management, and support functions along with the client stakeholders at construction meetings
  • Oversee the delivery of the 4-week lookahead plan and wider program 16 weeks (provided by the project team) and drive the performance to ensure targets are met, issues are identified and resolved.
  • Report on site orderliness, ensuring the areas work productively in a lean manner.
  • Managing the discipline of the workforce to the MEH standards
  • Ensuring compliance to the ECSA working agreement by providing a presence at the clocking stations as and when required.
  • Ensuring daily returns are completed and issues are highlighted
  • Ensure weekly & monthly reports are compiled and produced in a timely manner for upward review.
  • Ensure by coordination with the superintendents there is sufficient resource plant and materials to meet construction requirements in line with the delivery schedule

 

Who we're looking for

  • Degree Qualification (Equivalent) or proven experience
  • Relevant Professional Accreditation (PM, Construction, Engineering).
  • IOSH Managing Safely or MAPS or CCNSG
  • Experience working on major construction projects at a senior level.
  • Strong leader, pro-active and perform well under pressure
  • Experienced in delivering and operating at a senior leadership level, including experience working within Joint Ventures
  • Can achieve Security Clearance (BPSS or Higher).
