Main Duties:


Pre-Lift Preparation
Check all lifting equipment, slings, and accessories for defects or damage.
Confirm that lifting equipment has valid certification and inspection records.
Ensure the lift area is safe, clear of obstructions, and properly cordoned off.
Communicate with the crane operator and lifting supervisor to confirm lift plans and signals.
Attaching and Securing Loads
Select the correct lifting accessories for the load type, weight, and balance.
Correctly attach and secure loads using approved lifting methods.
Ensure the load is stable, balanced, and safely slung before signalling the lift.
Directing Crane Operations
Use standard hand signals or radio communication to guide the crane operator safely.
Maintain clear visibility of the load and effective communication with the operator at all times.
Stop the lift immediately if any unsafe condition is observed.
During and After the Lift
Ensure safe movement and positioning of the load.
Guide the load into its final position safely and accurately.
Remove lifting gear only once the load is secure and stable.
Report any defects, incidents, or near-misses to the lifting supervisor.
