Senior Quantity Surveyor (Sizewell C)

Location: Sizewell C, Leiston, Suffolk


An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our Sizewell team. To be considered, you will come from a Civil Engineering background.


The Senior Quantity Surveyor will be responsible in managing all costs relating to building and civil engineering projects, from the initial calculations to the final figures and minimise the costs of a project and enhance value for money, while achieving the required standards and quality.


The ideal candidate will have to hold a full UK driving licence.


Key Accountabilities to include but not limited to:


Analytical Thinking & Decision Making

 

  • Orders information and systematically checks data
  • Maximises digital opportunities


Cost Engineering

 

  • Prepares Activity Schedules, Resource Schedules & analyses tender documents


Estimating

 

  • Critically appraises, estimates, and negotiates the above with 3rd parties


Planning

 

  • Reviews complex contract programmes such as Time-Location
  • Assists with the preparation of delay and disruption programmes


Project Management

 

  • Monitors subcontract activities, measure and respond appropriately
  • Analyses the commercial progress and report to senior project staff
  • Manages commercial aspects with Customer and Stakeholders for their area of responsibility


Procurement

 

  • Undertakes constructability analyses using construction programmes
  • Prepares procurement programme and helps develop the strategy


Commercial Management

 

  • Analyses rates & prices, agreement of variations and or compensation events as required
  • Undertakes customer and stakeholder management for their area of responsibility
  • Prepares, submits, and negotiates claims when required. Prepares Internal reports, commercial progress and financial reconciliation
  • Comply with Company procedures


Experience/Knowledge:

 

  • Wide experience of civil engineering. Manage all commercial aspects of the project and be fluent in contract law and terminology
  • High proficiency in operating the NEC3 Options A, B and C forms of contract
  • Must be capable of producing robust Cost Plans and CVR’s and presenting to regional managers/board
  • Experience of managing a team
  • Good knowledge of and adheres to the Company’s GMCEs, BMS and other governance


Qualifications:

 

  • Degree in Building Surveying or similar technical qualification (HND HNC)
  • Royal institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) Membership
  • CSCS Card


Skills:

 

  • Ability to use a range of IT packages, Microsoft Office and bespoke packages
  • Exceptional relationship building skills
  • Self-motivated and proactive Commercial awareness and understanding of the Construction process
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral & written
  • Negotiation skills and ability to apply those skills internally, externally & with our supply chain
  • Positive attitude at all times and the ability to integrate and play active part in the Construction Team
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise to meet deadlines
