Come and join our expanding Sizewell C (SZC) team and work on one of the most exciting and largest megaprojects in the UK, whilst being at the forefront of the UK’s climate change agenda and energy policy. Following on from the success of Hinkley Point C (HPC), the SZC Project is a nuclear new build project in Suffolk, which has obtained planning approval and Government financing support. The project has started construction and is now seeking private investment. When completed, it will provide dependable electricity to 6 million homes for 60 years, which along with renewables, will support Britain to achieve Net Zero by 2050.

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Project Manager to support our Mechanical Electrical HVAC Alliance (MEHA).

Our teams are set up to work flexibly, with a hybrid working approach between our offices and your home. We provide a full suite of IT equipment to ensure that our employees can work from home comfortably and effectively.

About the Role:

You’ll be at the forefront of driving the formation and development of the MEH Alliance and overseeing the Alliance’s delivery of its engineering, procurement, and manufacturing activities.  Your primary objective will be to advance engineering and secure the supply chain to de-risk the Final Investment Decision (FID) for Sizewell C by maximizing the replication of Hinkley Point C’s detailed design.

You’ll also serve as a key liaison between the MEH Alliance and the SZC team, ensuring effective collaboration and alignment with project goals. Reporting to the SZC MEH client team, you’ll support project oversight, performance management, and strategic planning for this complex, large-scale undertaking.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate multi-disciplinary teams involved in the design, procurement, and delivery of mechanical, electrical, and HVAC systems, as well as Nuclear Island (NI) and Balance of Plant (BOP) contracts.
  • Provide oversight of MEH Alliance activities, ensuring that specifications, schedules, and performance metrics are met.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including the MEHA PM (Intelligent Customer Practitioner) and subject matter experts, to ensure alignment on engineering strategies, risk assessments, and project goals.
  • Drive innovation and problem-solving by adapting designs, construction sequences, and exploring new approaches to safeguard project schedules.
  • Manage commercial contracts, including cost and schedule assessments, contract variations, and procurement activities, to ensure efficient and timely delivery.
  • Ensure that lessons learned from Hinkley Point C are applied to SZC, with a focus on continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
  • Support post-FID contract development, including drafting terms, conditions, and technical specifications, while managing complex contractual requirements.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Proven Experience: Demonstrated success in managing large, multi-disciplinary engineering and procurement projects, from concept through to delivery.
  • Industry Knowledge: Expertise in mechanical, electrical, process, and systems engineering, with a good understanding of the complexity of major infrastructure projects, including interface management across various scope areas.
  • Contract & Risk Management: Experience with procurement, contract management, and risk analysis in large-scale projects, ideally in engineering or manufacturing environments. Familiarity with Earned Value Management (EVM) tools is highly desirable.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Strong communication and leadership skills, with experience managing both internal and external stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and engineering teams.
  • Technical Aptitude: Ability to provide technical oversight and guidance, ensuring compliance with industry standards, best practices, and innovative solutions that drive project success.

Desirable Qualifications:

Why Join Us?

For more than 60 years, nuclear power stations in the UK have been quietly keeping Britain fuelled with massive amounts of home-grown energy.

Our teams up and down the country are proudly continuing to serve the nation – but they also have an eye on the future.

EDF is leading the UK's nuclear renaissance with the construction of a new nuclear power station at Hinkley Point C and plans for a new power station at Sizewell C in Suffolk.

Nuclear power is the most reliable, low-carbon energy source currently available to the UK. EDF is playing a key role in the development of nuclear sites, while Hinkley Point C will provide low-carbon electricity to meet 7% of the UK demand. The project is already making a positive impact on the local and national economy as well as boosting skills and education.

We’re not just building new nuclear power stations. We’re developing careers, upskilling generations and creating thousands of employment and apprenticeship opportunities across a variety of skills areas.

It takes a special kind of person to work in the nuclear energy industry and although we have thousands of them there’s always a need for more.

Our industry has a mind-boggling range of opportunities and more jobs, and in more places, than you might think. But it’s also an industry which is changing.

We’re a responsible business and proud to be Britain’s biggest generator of zero carbon electricity. With size, age and experience, we believe we can do even more.
