Health and Safety Advisor (Sizewell C)


Location: Sizewell C (5 days a week onsite), Leiston, Suffolk

Contract: Permanent, full -time.
Salary:  £55,000 - £60,000 dependant on experience.

Sizewell C (SZC) is at the heart of the UK’s clean energy revolution. This ground-breaking nuclear power plant project in Suffolk will play a vital role in delivering a sustainable future. Backed by EDF and the UK Government, Sizewell C is a once-in-a-generation project with significant opportunities to innovate, grow, and deliver excellence.


The Role


We’re looking for an experienced Site Operations Health and Safety Advisor to join our team and play a pivotal role in delivering key projects for Sizewell C. This role will involve health and safety support and advice to internal site operations, safety, site infrastructure & Utilities, FM, accommodation, catering, health and security, and more.


In this role, you’ll work closely with Project Managers, Engineering Leads, and Tier 1 Contractor teams to ensure all health and safety requirements are met on-site. Your ability to engage with stakeholders, challenge practices constructively, and mitigate risks will ensure seamless delivery of construction projects.


You’ll ensure the Principal Contractor and associated Tier 1 contractors are complying with their requirements under Construction (Design & Management) (CDM) Regulations. Working to support and promote health, safety and wellbeing during pre-planning and delivery stages to ensure the Sizewell C project expectations are fully embraced. 


Key Highlights:

 

  • Collaborating with construction leaders to embed safety into every phase.
  • Providing expert guidance on legislative and site-specific safety standards (including CDM Regulations). 
  • Driving a proactive approach to mitigating risks in high-pressure environments.


What You'll bring

 

  • Background in construction (with CDM Regulation experience), or service environments.
  • Passion for health, safety, wellbeing, and continuous improvement.
  • Experience leading investigations into accidents, incidents, and ill health.
  • Self-aware team player who leverages strengths effectively.
  • Recognized Health & Safety qualification.
  • Proven track record of delivering excellent safety results.
  • IOSH Membership and a valid CSCS Card.


Desirable

 

  • Previous experience in the nuclear industry.
  • Degree in Construction, Environment Studies or another relevant field.
