Construction Cost Engineer

Location: London 
Employment type: 12- month fixed term contract/ full time 
Salary: £25,000 - £30,000 plus benefits


The Opportunity
 

Our exciting Sizewell C (SZC) project – a proposed new nuclear power station to be built on the Suffolk coast - would provide dependable electricity to 6 million homes for 60 years which, along with renewables, will support Britain’s Net Zero aim by 2050.


If you’re looking to advance your career as a Construction Cost Engineer, then we have a fantastic opportunity for you to join the SZC Cost Estimate Team. 
 

The Role
 

As a Construction Cost Engineer, you’ll be responsible for supporting the cost estimate development for the construction of the SZC project.


You’ll have the following main accountabilities:

 

  • Providing data and analytical support to the Estimate Leads
  • Supporting the consolidation of estimate information
  • Supporting the external review/verification of the SZC cost estimate 
  • Supporting with the quality assurance of estimates, reports & presentations 
  • Preparing presentations for internal and external stakeholders 
  • Preparing detailed cost analysis 
     

The Skills
 

To be successful in this role, you’ll be able to demonstrate:

 

  • Experience of analysis and presentation of cost data
  • Strong numerical and financial modelling skills 
  • Experience in handling and analysing large data sets
  • Excellent communication skills (including English language skills) including in visual presentations
  • Ability to take a pro-active, flexible, business focused approach in delivery of the role
  • Flexible approach with a willingness to develop knowledge and skills in different aspects of the project
     

Beneficial:

 

  • Strong degree in a relevant discipline 
  • Experience of cost estimating/ engineering for construction projects 
  • Experience using tools such as CostOS and PowerBI
