In this newly created role you will;

  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to Area Welding Coordinators, Welding Superintendents, Welding Supervisors and Technicians in the execution of their responsibilities to meet the project requirements.
  • Perform site welding engineering functions involving monitoring of compliance with project welding requirements and preparation of associated reports.
  • Assist in management and coordination of welding related activities from a functional engineering perspective.
  • Support the Welding Manager for the delivery of the Welding and NDT strategy as necessary to meet the needs of the MEHA in the preparation and implementation of welding and welding related activities onsite.
  • To ensure that site welding activities are carried out in accordance with specified project requirements.
  • Translate drawings and design requirements into weld requirements and develop the method of weld procedure and welder/operator qualification in line with the relevant codes and standards.
  • Establish welding procedure qualification requirements for the project. Liaise with Welding Engineers in the preparation of weld procedure qualification documentation and specific weld procedure specifications for submission.
  • Establish welder/operator qualification requirements for the project. Liaise with Welding Engineers in the preparation of welder/operator qualification documentation.
  • Liaise with Welding Engineers for additional technical support and for the provision of welding documentation required to support site installation activities and for the implementation of processes to ensure built in quality.
  • Establish equipment requirements for manual, semi-automatic and orbital welding processes.  Liaise with equipment manufacturers during trials and subsequent procurement activities.
  • Analyze welding data and KPI’s.
  • Ensure compliance to health, safety (occupational & process) and environmental excellence procedures and controls for activities under area of responsibility to guarantee employee safety, legislative compliance, and a responsible environmental attitude.


Applications are eagerly sought from candidates with;

    • A proven track record in large scale Installation of complex, multi-discipline projects, in the nuclear or similar regulated sector, including major EPC projects. 
    • Significant experience at leading welding engineering, inspection and quality control operations within a highly regulated industrial or nuclear (preferred) sector. 
    • Experience of nuclear codes in particular RCC-M. Completed ECITB RCC-M Mentor Guide.
    • Sound knowledge, understanding and effective application of BS EN ISO 9000 series, PED 2014/68/EU; EN1090; EN ISO 3834-2 (EN 729-2) EN13480; RCC-M; associated welding and NDE standards, and other sector specific Quality Standards (e.g., GQAS; IAEA GSR Part 2 for Nuclear Quality and Nuclear Safety Culture).
