Opportunity for a Welder/Plater Working Chargehand working with Severfield on the Hinkley Point C project,

Severfield Group acquired Harry Peers Steelwork in 2019 and DAM Structures in 2021.
Peers specialise in the Project Management, Design, Fabrication, and Erection of Structural Steelwork Contracts within the Petrochemical, Process, Pharmaceutical, and Nuclear Industries.
DAM Structures Limited is a Yorkshire-based innovative steel fabrication company offering a comprehensive design, manufacture, and erection service for the construction industry.
Main duties :
- Responsible for leading a team of operatives and supporting management
- Provide technical advice and propose technical solutions where required
- Review and approve technical & safety documentation
- Ensure installation of works is as per design and process
- Deliver works on time and within parameters of the budget set for the task.
- Supervise contracted staff
- Manage and ensure compliance of the NNB permit to work processes
- Attend coordination meetings
- Act as and Incident Controller (IC)
- Act as Trauma and Medical Immediate Care (TMIC)
Key Skills and experiences
- HPC experience (desirable)
- Familiar with data input
- Candidate must be a strong team leader who pays attention to safety and quality as a priority, always leading by example
- Must be able to set people to work and ensure works are delivered as per design, on time and on budget
- Team working and relationship-building skills
- Communication skills
- Technical skills
- An eye for detail
- Problem solving
Qualificatons/Experience :
One of the following -
- Level 3 Pipe Welder Apprenticeship Standard (ST0851)
- An equivalent Apprenticeship in a Welding discipline
- Diploma in:
- Welding Engineering Construction Pipework;
- Welding Engineering Construction Plate;
- Welding Engineering Construction (Pipework or Plate) at SCQF Level 7
- A minimum of 2 years' experience as a Welder in a relevant industry
Plus
- One of the following -
- CSWIP certificate
- L2 PCN Certificate
Plus
- The following -
- BS EN ISO 9606 Coded Welding Qualification
Plus one of the following -
- LATS
- SSSTS
- IOSH Managing Safely
Qualifications - Desirable
- VT - CSWIP certificate
- TMIC trained (First Aid at Work trained)
- IC trained
- Permit Acceptor
Experience :
- Minimum 2 years' experience as a Welder in a relevant industry
