TEMPORARY WORKS DESIGN ENGINEER

Purpose of the role:


Anticipation and development of the safe and ergonomic Temporary Works required to achieve Structures in full collaboration with Production/Delivery team.


Key responsibilities and specific accountabilities:

 

  • Development of construction methods, in collaboration with production teams
  • Development of construction sequence
  • Development of site installation in accordance with the construction sequence
  • Provide safe, practical and economic designs of temporary works in accordance with company procedures, the British and European codes of practice and UK construction Health and safety legislation 
  • Temporary works allowing reinforcement pre-fabrication, transportation and lifting (lifting beams, temporary supports, accesses, working platforms
  • Prepare conceptual and detailed designs including calculations, design risk assessments and sketches / drawings / models as appropriate 
  • Understand the practicalities of the erection, use and dismantle of temporary works 
  • Ensure technical issues are resolved in a timely manner in accordance with company procedures 
  • Liaise with project teams with respect to their design requirements 
  • Coordinate design work with external designers 

  

Technical Knowledge:

 

  • BS 5975 / or Similar Eurocode
  • Autocad 2D or Autocad 3D
  • Navisworks
  • Tekla Structures
  • Static beam analysis software and Robot structural.

Essential Skills & Competencies 

 

BEng / MEng in Civil or Structural Engineering 

Experience in Temporary Works designs 

Hands on experience with BS 5975 / or Similar Eurocode

Experience in the design of formwork, falsework and access scaffolding 

Experience in the design of bespoke shutters (steel or timber) 

Experience with codes of practice for concrete and steel work design (EN & BS codes) 

Computer skills required: Office suite, Autocad 2D. Preferred but not essential previous knowledge of Autocad 3D, Naviswork, Tekla Structures, Static beam analysis software and Robot structural.
