MEH Role: Surveyor    
Hinkley Point C Site 
MEH Alliance 

 

 

 

Here at the MEH Alliance we are looking to employ experienced Surveyors who will be integral to the successful construction of Hinkley Point C. This is a once in a career opportunity to be a part of the largest construction taking place in Europe right now and the first new nuclear power station to be built in the UK in over 20 years. Hinkley Point C in Somerset will provide low-carbon electricity for around 6 million homes and bring lasting benefits to the UK economy.

 

Job Purpose:

 

The successful candidates will provide dimensional control during the installation and erection of equipment and provide the setting out required for the installation.  As-built surveys of installed equipment, including tanks, vessels, pumps, piping, pipe supports and electrical and Hvac supports will also be carried out.  In addition to this, have experience in the use of current types of surveying equipment and ensuring all survey equipment is in calibration and that field checks are carried out at regular intervals.


Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Ensure all surveying activities are undertaken safely and responsibly, and in accordance with the CDM Regulations
  • Provide input for progress reporting on surveying activities within the Erection Areas.
  • Review any supplied setting out data to check design co-ordinates against the site grid system to ensure compatibility.
  • To provide quality checks on control set ups and point accuracy.
  • To establish and maintain survey control networks throughout the site.

 

What do I need to do the role?

 

Essential:

 

  • Surveying or Engineering qualifications or considerable experience
  • Experience in the use of survey equipment (Total Station, digital level) and the production of survey reports.
  • Conversant with all related legislation, codes, and standards.
  •  Knowledge of CDM regulations
  •  Experience in MS Office - Excel, Word

 

Desirable:

 

  • 3 years plus experience as an onsite surveyor
  • Experienced in working in a Joint Venture or Alliance environment
  • AutoCAD experience
  • Starnet software experience
  • Use of Leica instruments
  • NEBOSH or similar safety qualification

 

 

What else do I need to know?

 

  • All applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK and be subject to satisfactory security clearance which includes 3 years reference checks. Verification of any qualifications/passport/licences must be shown at interview stage.
