Bouygues Travaux Publics (TP) and Laing O’Rourke, two of Europe’s most dynamic engineering and construction specialists, are working together in a joint venture named BYLOR to deliver the main civil engineering works at Hinkley Point C (HPC) worth over £2.8 billion.
Bylor are pushing the boundaries of innovation and modern technology while delivering high quality construction on a massive scale. Bylor have already broken the UK record for the largest continuous concrete pour of 9,000m3 of concrete.

Key responsibilities and specific accountabilities:
Must be skilled & knowledgeable, making steel bars or mesh required length or shape by cutting, bending and tying reinforcement bars for reinforce concrete structure. Fabricate steel reinforcement beams, pile cap, columns, or special units in accordance with a safe method of work.
Essential skills & knowledge:
Key Skills:
- To position and secure steel reinforcement bars or reinforcement steel mesh to reinforce concrete structures.
- Read and interpret reinforcement plans/drawings and reinforcement schedules for the job.
- Set out the work from these instructions.
- Make steel bars or mesh the required length/shape by bending them, cutting them with bolt cutters, guillotines or power saws.
- Assemble the reinforcing bars or mesh by use of correct tying wire into predetermined locations prior to the concrete pour.
- Fabricate steel reinforcement such as beams, Pile Cap Columns or special units.
- Be familiar with the use of jigs.
- Join prefabricated units together for large sections of high rise or civil projects, and position the reinforcement ready for concrete pours.

- Demonstrated ability to work in a construction
- Proficient in using hand and power tools.
- Ability to lift and handle heavy objects.
- Competent at performing routine manual
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Proven ability to understand and execute written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to work in a team.
- Demonstrated ability to work outdoors.
Qualification:
- CSCS Skilled Worker Card (BLUE)
