Wessex Water

Location:    Hinkley Point C - Combination of site and officed based
Salary:    PAYE up to £60,000 or contractor day rate (inside IR35)
Job Type:    Permanent or FTC
Hours:    40 hrs/week Monday to Friday


The senior SHEQ Advisor will be experienced and competent in managing a Health & Safety function in a Construction environment. You will be proficient of working autonomously, capable of developing relationships with stakeholders and possess strong influencing skills. You will be comfortable in building credibility to achieve buy in for change and positively impacting an organisation's culture on health and safety. 

 

You will be responsible for supporting strategies, developing systems, monitoring performance and the provision of advice and support to ensure compliance with statutory and company requirements.

 

If successful you will operate by undertaking a range of planned advice, guidance and support activities which focus on establishing, promoting, maintaining, and continually improving the management arrangements to attain construction excellence; positively promoting and reinforcing standards; monitoring/measuring the supply chain health and safety performance through the safety management system and routinely reporting programme and project performance.


You will:

• Provide operational support and assistance to the team on issues related to SHEQ
• Review service providers / contractors Safety, Health Environmental documentation 
• Identify cultural and behavioural issues related to the safety management plan and develop / implement strategies to mitigate
• Report / communicate / consult with the employee on safety and health issues that has the potential to impact on the business
• Champion the Zero Harm safety programme
• Undertake & review risk and hazard assessments on projects
• Implement risk perception / safety culture models 
• Assist accident investigations and provided recommendations in root cause / contributing factors and incident analysis.
• Conduct and / or participate in audits and inspections of activities/ safety cases / safety management systems / plans and identified deviations to the agreed standards. 
• Complete compliance reports based upon the business legal responsibility 
• Liaise with the Client and its partners 
• Review working process for opportunities of improvement
• Support quality assurance processes and systems
• Agreeing standards and establishing clearly defined quality methods for employees and contractors.
• Support quality procedures in conjunction with employees / contractor / client.

 

 

To be successful, you'll need:
•    Safety Qualification such as NEBOSH General and or Construction 
•    Holds NEBOSH Diploma or working towards, or equivalent plus experience in similar role(s)
•    CSCS MAP Test

 

 

Experience: 

•    Well developed understanding of Health & Safety systems and processes.
•    Good planning and organizational skills; effective decision-making.
•    Ability to communicate to a wide range of people, often balancing conflicting requirements.   
•    Ability to organise self, individuals and teams motivating all towards achieving successful completion of projects
