Senior Project Engineer


Hinkley Point C, Bridgwater – Hybrid, minimum of 3 days a week onsite.

The Opportunity

 

As a Senior Project Engineer, you'll play a pivotal role in supporting the Commissioning Temporary Projects Manager in managing the development and delivery of temporary commissioning projects. Embrace a dynamic mix of office and site-based work as you ensure projects are executed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.


With no direct reports expected, you'll have the autonomy to drive project success and ensure delivery of all engineering, procurement, manufacturing, construction, and commissioning activities in alignment with safety, quality, and cost parameters.

What you’ll be doing

 

  • You'll lead the timely and quality delivery of specific assigned activities and projects, working closely with the project manager, overseeing contracts and detailed schedules.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to achieve shared project goals, defining the scope of work within your assigned contract or package and identifying interfaces with other program elements. Additionally, manage the delivery of small projects and tasks, ensuring they are completed safely and efficiently, while maintaining key project documentation to ensure clarity and alignment throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Develop and implement execution strategies aligned with the overall program execution plan (PEP), providing clear direction on managing and organising the work. Maintain open communication with stakeholders. Monitor progress, track milestones, and provide comprehensive progress reports to ensure transparency and accountability throughout the project.
  • Your leadership will be pivotal in guiding diverse project team members, identifying key resources, and ensuring clear communication of roles and responsibilities.

 

Who you are

 

  • Being a Senior Project Engineer at EDF means, having a strong background in project management or engineering, particularly within complex projects. While a degree in a relevant technical field is essential, your hands-on experience in applying project management processes, organising work to meet schedules, and communicating effectively with diverse teams is what we value most.
  • Experience in procurement and the tendering process is preferred. You should have a proven track record in managing negotiations with suppliers and comfortable working with a commercial multidisciplinary team. A solid understanding of Health & Safety legislation, including Construction Design Management and the Health and Safety at Work Act, is crucial.
  • We value someone proficient in budget monitoring, commercially aware, and capable of managing contractors effectively. Your understanding of Quality Assurance within the project environment and your ability to adhere to governance frameworks will be key. Proficiency in preparing reports and using software like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is also important.
