Opportunity for a Piping Working Chargehand (Blue Hat) working with ENKA UK on the Hinkley Point C Project,
Main Responsibilities
- Responsible to ensure that all necessary permit to work documents, drawings, materials, equipment are available and ensure coordination with other teams and departments.
- Follow established job-site safety and regulations and maintain a safe and clean work area.
- Review and interpret isometric drawings
- Check the withdrawn material against MWR if they are the correct required material
- Organize the work activities, assign manpower and equipment for the work activities after getting the work permit and approved drawings.
- Attach pipes to walls, structures and fixtures, such as equipment or tanks, using brackets, clamps, tools or welding equipment.
- Monitor the work activities against drawings.
- To ensure safety working conditions of the working area before starting to work.
- To conduct safety toolbox meeting every morning.
- To report any unsafe situation or condition to his supervisor and safety officer and stop working.
- To report the extra need of consumable material to his supervisor.
- Organization and supervision of all types of works of different complexity levels performed by pipe fitters crew for laying pipelines
- Control over quality and timeliness of works performed by pipe fitter crews.
- Responsible to inspect and test all piping systems to ensure that they are functioning correctly and are free from leaks or other defects.
- Shall ensure that a "zero harm" approach is taken in relation to all his acts and omissions in relation to the services and the project. Acknowledges that due to the nature of the project, nuclear safety and security are of paramount importance.
- Agrees to comply with any rule, instruction or requirement of the Company in relation to the services which the company determines, in his sole and absolute discretion, is necessary in order for the company to comply with his obligations under the nuclear site license.
- Housekeeping of the work areas; collection, segregation and disposal of wastes as required; removal of unused materials and clear the work floors to eliminate/reduce slipping or tripping risks in your work area.
- Safe use, protection, storage and care of general maintenance products, hand and power tools
You must:
- Take care of your own health and safety and that of people who may be affected by what you do (or do not do);
- Co-operate with others on health and safety, and not interfere with, or misuse, anything provided for your health, safety or welfare;
- Follow the training you have received when using any work items your employer has given you.
Qualifications/Experience :
- Level 3 Apprenticeship installing Engineering Construction Plant and Systems - Pipefitting
- Enrollment onto ILM Level 3 Award C&BE (completion within 3 months of start date) + completion of Nuclear Unit or CMI Level 3
- Hold Nuclear Engineering Construction Supervisor (NECS) + LATS or SSSTS or IOSH Managing Safety Certificates
- Can achieve Security Clearance (BPSS)
- Hold or Can achieve CCNSG Safety Passport or HS&E test for supervisors.
- Have minimum 10 years of work experience
