HPC Duty Manager

Somerset Passenger Solutions are currently looking for a Duty Manager to play a pivotal role as part of our Operation.


You will be required to manage the operations of the business, responsible for the delivery of a safe, punctual, and reliable service to the standards and expectations set for the business including vehicle allocations, operational punctuality, customer service, team presentation and safety as defined by our Company KPIs.


You will manage your direct reports to a high standard; mentoring and supporting them to consistently work toward excellence as a norm, whilst managing compliance within the undertakings of the SPS operator's licence. You will also be ultimately responsible for the supervision, welfare and safety of the night staff on duty.


Key Responsibilities

 

  • Co-ordinating, logging and resolving all operational issues during the shift; liaising with the all other parts of the operations sites.
  • Correct daily allocation of drivers to duties in person and on DAS.
  • Correct daily vehicle allocation to correct routes and amending where required to ensure conformity to KPI.
  • Efficient use of drivers and therefore driver cost.
  • Work and collaborate with Engineering to ensure delivery to business standards and KPI output.
  • Maintaining vehicle allocation for tracking.
  • For making sure all accidents/incidents are reported and Occurrence report and insurance paperwork is completed within the timeframes as set out in standard operating procedure.
  • Line management responsibility for Supervisors.
  • Communicating service performance at the morning meeting and handover reports.
  • Managing and coordinating VOR situations with Engineering.
  • Responsible for coordinating emergency responses in the event of an incident or accident; providing regular communication updates to the Exec team and following the required processes and procedures.
  • Support the supervisory team to optimise staff productivity through effective two-way communication at all times.
  • Reporting all absence issues during the shift.
  • Hold return to work meetings for drivers and supervisors when required
  • Attend and contribute to period team briefings with all supervisory staff to discuss performance against predefined targets
  • Responsible for ensuring SPS fulfills its obligations to the Traffic Commissioner and NNB in providing sufficient vehicles to meet required service levels within permitted levels of tolerance.
  • To keep abreast of any new legislation
  • Responsible for checking driver qualification cards on driver sign in and that they are able to drive.
  • Monitoring and managing driver welfare and being the first port of call for any driver or supervisor issues.
  • To competently manage Operational systems such as Webfleet, Moovemanage and Utrack for the effective service delivery standards and to use the outputs from these systems to support the safety culture of our business and also to work toward excellence as the norm.
  • Managing and monitoring use of Company pool cars, ensuring that driver is safe to drive them.
  • Issuing and checking of vehicle packs to ensure compliance including responsibility and security of VCR and fuel cards that are in operation.
  • Responsible for carrying out regular random drug and alcohol tests.
  • To take the time to be a visible leader of the business across all operating centres to improve engagement and communication with our colleagues whilst helping to reinforce our safety expectations. 

 
SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS

 

  • Requirements to work shifts on 24/7 basis as required.
  • Requirements to carry out duties at any location.
  • Be expected to hold, or work towards achieving an up to date PSV drivers licence.
  • You are required to monitor your areas of control as well as the performance and activities of all persons under your control to ensure that acceptable standards are maintained.
  • The objectives and guidance outlined within our health and safety management system is fully understood and observed.


Qualifications : 

 

  • PCV Licence - desirable 
  • Driving licence - essential
  • Hold, or be in a position to obtain, an OCR certificate of professional competence in transport operations or equivalent - desirable
  • H&S qualification or related experience - essential


Experience : 

 

  • At least 2 years' experience of working within Transport operations - Essential
  • Team/staff management experience - Essential
  • Team/staff management experience - Essential 
  • Proven ability to work well in a team - Essential
  • Knowledge of domestic and Eu driving regulations - Essential
  • Experienced in dealing with a high level of face to face queries - Essential
