MEH Role:

MEH Engineering (Small Power & Lighting Engineer) Construction Facing Senior Electrical Engineer 

 

 

Location : Bristol Temple Quay / SEIC, Bridgewater 

 

Security Clearance: 

BPSS or Higher 

 
Accountabilities: 

Accountable for the delivery of defined activities within grouped tasks, to quality and performance targets, led by an Engineering Task Lead. 

Display and foster a positive Nuclear Safety Culture. 

 

 

Key Deliverables: 

  • The role as the nominated ‘Task Lead’, responsible for the day to day delivery of specified scope and activities, with overall accountability functionally to the MEH Alliance Engineering function Core Team. 
  • This role will require taking the direction from the Engineering Lead, then managing the assigned Task(s) in respect of the activity needs for delivery and performance. 
  • Experience in development of technical specifications for the off-site manufacturing, as well as other materials/equipment. 
  • Experience in working to identify further opportunities to reduce the onsite works by utilising off site pre-assembly and fabrication.  
  • Liaise with the manufacturers responding to and managing technical queries 
  • Experience in working with the design team and NNB to align the selection of equipment and procurement of the off-site solutions. 
  • Work with supply chain partners to help provide the information required to substantiate the use of their products. 
  • Technical support to the Procurement and Quality functions is assessing and selecting suppliers throughout the procurement lifecycle. 
  • Demonstrable experience in electrical building services systems, providing input, advice and guidance on specific technical matters including product selection and procurement 
  • Knowledge and experience of installation of electrical cabling, fire alarm and data cabling systems  
  • Experience of working with several stakeholders including the Client, external design entities and external specialist supply chain partners, to enable the delivery of the activities scheduled.  
  • Experience of interfacing with other task delivery teams will be required, maintaining the functional accountability of each, but ensuring cross population of information is provided for best delivery for the project. 

 

 

Minimum Qualifications/ Experience  (as per MEH matrix) 

  • HNC in Electrical Engineering, ideally with at least 10 years of experience in a nuclear or a similarly regulated industry. 
  • Experience of construction of large multi-discipline projects, understanding of engineering design delivery, understanding of cross-discipline relationships, interfaces, and coordination. 
  • Experience in working with design teams to develop and implement off site fabrication solutions. 
  • Experience in working with supply chain partners to develop installation strategies for equipment.  
  • Experience of site installations in order to identify and address both installation issues and opportunities at the design and site stage. 


Additional Qualifications/ Experience: 

  • Degree in engineering (desirable). 
  • Chartered / Incorporated Engineer with relevant engineering institute or working towards Chartered / Incorporated status.

  • Infrastructure (cabling and containment) for fire & hydrogen detection and IT and communications 
  • General Electrical Installation 
  • Installation of large electrical equipment (transformers, HV/LV switchgear, batteries, chargers, invertors etc.) 
  • Installation of cables (HV, LV, I&C)
