The Opportunity


A new opportunity has arisen for a Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Engineer to join the Inspection Branch of the Structural Integrity (SI) Function within EDF UK's Nuclear Services.


The Inspection Branch provides EDF UK Licensees with the technical knowledge and expertise required to support the delivery of new nuclear build projects (HPC and SZC) and in-service inspection activities for the UK fleet of operating nuclear power stations.

What you’ll be doing

 

  • Reporting to the NDT Group Lead, you’ll play a key role in ensuring inspection quality and compliance across new nuclear construction projects.
  • You'll support the development of inspections critical to the project’s Safety Case, as well as manage Inspection Qualification activities for Pre-Service and In-Service Inspections (PSI and ISI).
  • Your role involves coordinating PSI and ISI implementations at both site and vendor locations, reviewing and approving NDT activities across manufacturing, construction, and operational stages, and acting as the Intelligent Customer for the Licensee.
  • Additionally, you’ll provide technical support for procurement strategies that impact the construction phase, contribute to project decision-making, assist in root cause analysis for inspection non-conformances, and embody the core values of the HPC project, fostering their adoption among team members and partners.


Who you are


Your background may include some of the following:

 

  • Proven experience of In-Service Inspection in a relevant industry.
  • Hold PCN ISO 9712 or equivalent certification Level 2 or 3 in a variety of NDT techniques.
  • Hold, or be actively working towards, a professional accreditation (e.g. BINDT) relevant to inspection.
  • Experience with managing projects and leading multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Experience with developing and implementing advanced inspection techniques and / or automated inspection systems. 
  • Experience with production and reviews of Technical Justifications and Technical Capability Statements to underpin inspection capabilities.
  • Familiarity with inspection simulations software such as CIVA.
  • Experience with applying Design Code and standards for NDT inspection.
  • Experience with managing a range of stakeholders and demonstrating strong influencing and communication skills.
  • Experience with developing and supporting NDT inspections of nuclear power station components is desirable.
