HR Adviser (or Trainee HR Adviser)

- HR Adviser £42,062 gross per annum
- Trainee HR Adviser (starting salary of £33,649 gross per annum during CIPD level 5 qualification, increasing to £37,855 on qualification of CIPD Level 5 Associate Diploma People Management and to full HR Adviser rate at successful achievement of 2 years’ service and qualification).
- This is a full time role, or can be offered on a 4-day per week basis.
The HR Adviser (or Trainee HR Adviser) provides generalist HR advice, guidance and support to managers and colleagues. This role is varied and fast-paced, and would be ideal for a generalist who thrives in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide advice and guidance on company policies, employment terms, and legislative requirements
- Revise HR policies and processes, including implementing and providing guidance and training on relevant policies/processes
- Advise and support on a range of employee relations processes across the full generalist HR agenda ensuring high standards are consistently achieved.
- Complete or support investigations and formal meetings as required across the business.
- Participate in recruitment, onboarding and induction activities including careers events, job fairs and associated events
- Ensure all HR documentation is produced in line with company standards, our values and quality standards
- Review and analyse a range of HR data, identifying trends, and working with a solutions-focused approach
- Manage absences, including occupational health referrals and wellbeing support solutions
- Coach and empower managers and supervisors on HR practices and processes, supporting learning and development interventions and creating solutions
- Undertake HR projects across a range of HR topics including resourcing, change management and talent development
The Ideal Candidate:
Our requirements include:
- Be confident, with strong communication skills both written and verbal
- Competent Microsoft Office user with skills in Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
- Determined and resilient in approach
- Have excellent interpersonal skills
- Tact, diplomacy and discretion
- Evidence of continuous professional development
- Able to travel, on occasion, to various premises throughout Somerset and the South West
In addition, as an HR Adviser, you should:
- Have achieved the CIPD Level 5 Associate Diploma in People Management (or equivalent qualification) or have substantial equivalent experience (essential)
- Have solid exposure in HR environments (essential)
- Have proven employment law knowledge and application of law into HR practice
- Have excellent relationship building skills and interpersonal skills at all levels
- Dispute resolution/mediator
- Determined and resilient in approach
- Mental Health First Aider (MHFA)
- A high level of emotional intelligence
- Be a thinking performer who is able to work independently
- Able to work flexibly to meet operational needs
In addition, as a Trainee HR Adviser, you should:
- Be committed to completing the CIPD Level 5 Associate Diploma in People Management within 24 months (essential)
- Have already achieved the level 3 Certificate in People Practice (or equivalent) or have extensive experience in all areas of the HR function or a degree in a related subject (essential)
- Have an understanding of employment law principles and able to apply to HR practice
- Compassionate to support others
- Be able to work in a team and independently
